I'm not one for doing the decent thing plus I'd like LL to win the 'guess what page.....' competition. I'll go for 189Worthy4England wrote:Coyle might be playing up-front, if Coyle doesn't pull his finger out and/or TKIZ does the decent thing.officer_dibble wrote:both wil;l be playing up front for the whites next season unless coyle pulls his finger out and signs someone and/or TKIZ does the decent thing and closes this thread...

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas does not think he needs to sign a new striker, despite reports he has bid for Romelu Lukaku.
Sky sources understand last season's Premier League runners-up have made an offer for the £20million-rated Anderlecht 18-year-old, who scored 16 league goals last season.
Lukaku has been described as the new Didier Drogba, and Villas-Boas has admitted his admiration of the teenage sensation.
But the Chelsea boss also has the options of Drogba, Fernando Torres, Nicolas Anelka, Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge to mean he may not necessarily make a move.
Availability
"Lukaku had a magnificent season in Belgium," said Villas-Boas.
"We are pondering every decision because we don't want to go into the market and make mistakes.
"We have plenty of availability in terms of forwards who can play in different positions - with Anelka, with Kalou, Didier, Torres and Sturridge.
"This is the reality at the moment of our squad. We need to find the correct balance and this is why pre-season is important.
"On that decision, to bring in another forward, at the moment I don't think we will."

199 come on,
Looks like we will have 2.7miliion to spend now after Habsi went 4m and possible Taylor, then taking of what we lost on the final day 3.5m. (given it appear book balancing is taking over from the pitch, which having thought about it is the way it should be, but no where near as fun)
Who could we get for that 2.7m?

How are you working that out?
Out of £2.2m for Taylor and £4m for Habsi (£6.6m) then surely you'd expect Coyle to be given 50% of that?
Not to mention them leaving frees up about £40,000 per week from the wage total....

£2.7m seems a bit miserly

2.2+4=6.2
6.2-3.5 (prize money lost from league position approx.)= 2.7m + 1m (ward) = 3.7m woopwoop
My figure are based purely on transfer fees, not taking into account the wages etc as we would have to pay wages to any one coming in and would expect them to be similar or higher than those who have left./
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Depends on what Reo-Coker is willing to take as wages plus signing on fee? If he does end up coming long to the Reebok
Pfffft.
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
I really don't think it works like that. I imagine Coyle will get most of the money from player sales to spend.n035209 wrote:Humm, wellLofthouse Lower wrote:How are you working that out?

Sales being £750,000 for Ward, £4m for Habsi and £2.2m for Taylor = £6.95m
Even at a conservative 50% that is just shy of £3.5m in the kitty or one Nigel Reo-Coker (signing on fee and wages)
Then should we ever get round to selling Cahill then we can pluck figures out of the air again

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
toshay LL, I left that open for you.
Well just cant see us having much more? trying to book balancing is key for a responsible club like ours (not taking into account the debt to warbies)
The cahill thing in my opinion is a shocker and has freebie in 12 months written all over it, if it was someone other than Arsenal interested then id say it might go through, but as you see with there offer for Jagielka, they want stuff on the cheap. Give it the final week of the window and cahill will be sold for <13million which is still good in my opinion but in the current climate is to little.

I think it's great money, myself.
We've got to service the debt to the banks and to Uncle Eddie, but not to the detriment of the squad because as someone up there said, if we going down then we're fu cked. Royally.

Who knows what that might bring......

what would happen is that we'd close the thread JUST as we were about to finalise a deal - and it would be scuppered because there would be no place to discuss it... you know it makes sense!
