I was never a fan of Weiss, but tell you what, at this level against some of the shit on show, he'd rip up trees.

Great result. Good 2nd half performance. I think if we open up earlier in the game and start a match with that tempo we might get more wins. But Dougie is a cautious sort, keep it tight and stay in the game. I guess its called gameplan :)

I can't wait for his Summer acquisitions based on the signings he's made so far. Shame the thick impatient fans we have won't give him the time. And I wasn't Eagles biggest fan last season but people have fecking short memories, he was tearing up this division earlier on in the season. He's going through a rough patch atm and seems like a confidence player. That ironic cheering and constant abuse will do his form no good I fear.

Be nice, and funny if all the level headed people started an uprising against the booers and jeerers! All stood up and started chanting 'f uck off, if you boo the team' or something? get that ringing round the ground, let the players know were not all complete retards, and give the booing bastards summat to squirm about.

Fwiw I didn't think it came from the ESL tho, Mainly WSL?

Hmm, I though de Ridder was poor. A few step-overs and ran about a fair bit, but created nothing of substance. I gather he was good for Southampton last season, so hopefully he'll come good.

Dawson was great. Do we have him till the end of the season, or is he the one-month loan?

I like the look of Cravies: aggressive, harries, shows for the ball. Fingers crossed...

Eagles was awful, but my god, what kind of no-mark, numb-skull, frustrated wanker do you have to be to abuse your own players during a match. Tw–ts. Can anyone think of a club with a worse set of supporters? Embarrassing.

I think the booing/jeering was all round tbh. Wouldn't have been surprised if some came out of the directors area.

Eagles was MoM several times in the first 3 months but there's no denying that he's been out of sorts for some while now & needs resting. Jeering him isn't going to help. However, taking de Ridder off & leaving Eagle's on was a difficult one to fathom.

Sordell worked hard & provided movement but it wasn't working for him yesterday. CrAvies certainly made a difference when he came on. Odd really as he really doesn't look the part, but he has an eagerness to put himself about.

I see a far better will to play football, to vary it, to keep the ball ... & to keep it on the ground. So I 'get' what Freedman's trying to do. However, until all that includes adding the incisiveness to turn possession into goals then it's all for nought. The defence has, also, to stop the glaring error or two. Largely absent yesterday we still had Knight's big miss which could easily have seen a red card and Bogger's starfish impression which was, frankly, amazing.

It's clear that de Ridder splits opinion. For me, yesterday, I liked him. Direct, fast, tackling back and an eye for getting the thing into the middle. But hey, what do I know ??
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

He had the ball lots but he didn't once do anything with it. In all the time he was on the pitch, he didn't open them up with a pass or break through their defence with a good run. All he did was a few fancy turns but he created nothing substantial, and it was absolutely the right decision to take him off.
sorry, but i totally disagree. De ridders first half performance was amazing IMO. Straight from the off, he was fighting for possession and them "fancy turns" got him and the ball deeper into the Burnley half. He had the confidence to get on the ball and make things happen, something i feel our team is lacking.

As a midfielder to be able to turn a defender inside out in the box, and get a shot on goal isn't too shabby (definitely not a corner for us but good to see decisions going our way for a change)

However, the decision to take him off IMO would of been one of fitness rather than performance.

Whatever the method behind this decision was, it did not warrant the reaction it got from our fans, and after reading a few threads on here i believe i'm not alone in thinking it was pretty shocking to see, this sort of behavior has absolutely no positive outcome whatsoever

What's with the criticism of De Ridder?

There were more than a handful of times the ball was thrown into the box. One being the fizz across the face of goal which was deflected out for a corner. His chasing down led to the first corner where if Dawson had done a little better would have been a goal. He's not afraid to take on players and did take it round them.
The guys played less than 90 minutes and he's already shit?

I make rash comments during the game but usually after re-watching the game/highlights come to a sound judgement. I don't think De Ridder is a bad player. The boos when he came off were a sign of what most of the Reebok crowd thought.

Harry Genshaw wrote:Eagles was damn frustrating today because we all know he's capable of so much more, but the response to his removal from some today was atrocious. Similarly the reaction to Bogdan catching anything is the same. Hardly going to fill them with confidence is it?
Totally right, Harry. It was atrocious but for me and I have to say I don't normally boo, it was born out of pure frustration. Frustration at the manner in which they scored and frustration with Eagles bottling out of challenges or just generally not being at the races. We know what he's capable of or at least I'm aware and it's upsetting to see him not attaining that level.
