Equally on another day we'd have had a penalty and or Medos shot would have flown in or Baptistes first touch would have been better when in on goal.boltonboris wrote:Yes. They had a strong bench. But I didn't mention their bench. The team we had out was better than theirs on paper (yes, I know).
I'm struggling to find as many positives as other people. The only positive I can find is that on another day, we'd have soundly lost.
Draw was a fair result.
I think you're underestimating their team as well. Think they will be very strong this year. Even on paper I'd have several of theirs that started if offered.

Pearce and Morrison for starters. Good good centre backs for this level. Better than we've got.plymouth wanderer wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Equally on another day we'd have had a penalty and or Medos shot would have flown in or Baptistes first touch would have been better when in on goal.boltonboris wrote:Yes. I like McAnuff, think he's pacy direct and tricky. For me it's what you need in this league with a winger.
Karacan is a good midfield player.
And I'd have Le Fondre, but he didn't start yesterday.
Re: Reading
I was speaking to my martes on the way home and they thought that we had the ref in our back pocket for the first half , cue look of
.

The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

Hardly a better 11 than ours though IMO
I'd agree with you on 3 of them but that's about it

Re: Reading
We could've lost certainly in that second half. First half we could've gone in at least two up and it wouldn't have been an injustice. On another day we might have been out of sight by the time the bovril was served.boltonboris wrote:Yes. They had a strong bench. But I didn't mention their bench. Re: Reading
...which is what happened against Hull. In most other matches during that wonderful mysterious lovely run there was at least an element of hanging on - and a lot of clean sheets. The latter look hard to come by so if we're gonna need to score twice to win, we need to ask different questions over the course of the match.Worthy4England wrote:We could've lost certainly in that second half. Re: Reading
Evening guys, got home a short while ago. Thanks again for the advice, had a good few pints in the Barnstormers pre kick off (despite being the only Reading fans in there, which I was surprised about). The beers earlier in the day coupled with the long drive in the morning put paid to a trip into Manchester, ended up having a few in Scotts and being in bed by 12!
In terms of the game, I haven't read the rest of the thread so apologies if I repeat anything. I though a draw was pretty fair as we were terrible in the first half, lucky to have nil in my opinion, but we absolutely bossed the second half and on another day would have scored a hatful. Have to admit though that from our end of the stadium I thought you were denied two absolute stonewallers. Really enjoyed my first visit to the Reebok, impressive stadium.
I think we're gunna need to get used to opposition having a very robust plan for dealing with Royston, but you can't deny he really is a cut above at this level.

No, no, no, my friend. We absolutely bossed the first half and were shit in the second, of course
.
Yep, we really should have had you out of/chasing the game at H/T - don't know what Adkins said to your boys at H/T but it was a complete reversal thereafter.
I thought we should've had one penalty but there you go.
Really glad that you had a good trip, hopefully you all did.

Re: Reading
Haha well whichever way you look at it one thing is for certain - both teams need to remember a game lasts 90 minutes!
Yeah a great weekend to be fair, general consensus is that we'll make it an annual trip (league permitting, of course). And on our forum the general feeling is it was well worth the money. A very unsavoury video of a steward manhandling a fan who was leaving without protest after FT (hands in the air) and then pinning him up against the wall is doing the rounds at the moment - not sure we've heard the last of that.

Lucky to not be red carded...the ref made his journey back on the reading team bus (even) more comfortable by 'forgetting' that second dive. Hope someone snaps the wanker in half this season. Either the ref or drenthe!
Now I've only seen the goals; but from everything I've read, and interviews I've seen; he was the difference between the teams & took the piss out of us.

Not at all ... unless it was too subtle for me to appreciate.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Doesn't look a great deal in it to be honest but our stewards have got a reputation that goes before them.

Like a lot of this stuff, it doesn't show the early bit. The bit that led to him being ejected. So difficult to tell whether the reaction is in anyway matched to the initial action.clapton is god wrote:http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/secre ... ading-fan/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;?royalref wrote:A very unsavoury video of a steward manhandling a fan who was leaving without protest after FT (hands in the air) and then pinning him up against the wall is doing the rounds at the moment - not sure we've heard the last of that.

Last season we had a nice kit but a bloody rubbish side though, so I'm happy for it to be the other way round this season

Re: Reading
We have to live in the real world here, we're not a Premiership club any more. I thought we were ok (considering it's only the second league game of the season) and I'd be suprised if Reading weren't up there at the end of the season.
They missed a complete sitter and we should have had at least one penalty so I think a draw was a fair result.
Look at how bad we were at this point last season..
