What can you do about it?Izual_Rebirth wrote:I think they are very important questions that anyone who cares about the club needs to ask themselves. You might dislike me and that's fair enough. I have been accused of being confrontational in the past so for that I apologise.
If I may ask the board some questions then instead of pushing my own opinions.
* Do the majority honestly believe it's possible to reduce our losses from 50M this year to 0M by this time next year? If not by next year then by when?
* How long do you think it will be until we pay off our debt?
* Do you think the club will get by without going into administration?
Look at my reply, that will tell you everything.
But the questions are valid and, I think, important.
I can't do anything about it and I don't think that anyone who posts on here can.

aye - maybe - but that would mean we couldn't post about pretty much anything!!

Re: The Debt.
I'm sure you are lovely but ... and this is the final time I'll bother saying this to you ... we can only go into administration once we have taken many, many unpalatable steps. Not least selling any players of value, the ground, hotel, Euxton, anything we own at Middlebrook. Indeed, anything we own at all ... Emma Davies' spare underwear, Dougie's children, my second best bed, any pies left in the freezers ... everything.
.. and, so you understand, in a 'fire sale' you get the lowest possible prices.
Eddie Davies has NOTHING to gain from doing this.
Only then can you elect to go into administration.
Do you understand that ?
Di you need me to explain anything else ?
I'm a demon on Bolton bus routes of the 1960's& 70's.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I think this is aimed at me. People can post what they want, one issue posters don't discuss anything else. Although you knew that didn't youthebish wrote:aye - maybe - but that would mean we couldn't post about pretty much anything!!

Re: The Debt.
He bought shares at the same time as Riviman, who mentioned this on the previous page, can't remember the precise arrangements but think it was an emergency appeal for investment. There was never an intention on his part of ever making money out of it, just an effort to keep the club's head above water when it was on the edge, which it did. He could have sold up when we got to the Prem and made a stack if he'd wanted to do so.CAPSLOCK wrote:Burnden Leisure was floated in, from memory, 97?midlands exile wrote:I seem to remember it being a similar foregone conclusion when Eddie Davis "offered" the initial loan ("give me the club or I'll let the banks call the debt in") and all the shareholders' value was wiped out - including my dad's money that he'd also put in during the dark days of the 80s.
Any shares in the previous company had more use as bog roll
By the time Davies came in, Burnden Leisure shares were worthless, so I don't get there's any need for the tone used
Unless you want to pick up your dads share of the 160 million debt?
And, out of interest, how did he buy shares in the 80s
There was no share issue so far as I remember
Would you have had to go and knock on Georgie Warburtons door and offer him a few quid?

Or you're unable to get your head around the concept of "buying and selling shares". Apologies for discussing a subject too complex for you.CAPSLOCK wrote:No, he couldn'tmidlands exile wrote:He could have sold up when we got to the Prem and made a stack if he'd wanted to do so.

Re: The Debt.
Had a quick look into Burnden Leisure's flotation back in 1997 to see whether anybody made any money. I doubted it, but I came across this piece from the time, written by a chap whose jib-cut I admire...
Re: The Debt.
I found that amongst plenty other articles
I didn't want to post em all up and let the midland one realise he can't believe all daddy tells him
There was no 80s appeal for cash...nothing beyond Lifeline anyway, unless we include that scheme where you could buy your season ticket 10 years in advance - Before my time but I think there was a 70s share issue
And the share issue when all the Mosaic stuff went on
I think they floated at about 60 at the beginning of 97/98, ie we were in the Prem and they were 37/40 the Friday before we played Chelsea and were relegated
The price did nowt but go down almost from day 1
But obvs I know nowt about the principle of buying and selling shares

Nothing's as bad as it feels at the time... hopefully

If we own the mosaic, are we due some royalties?

Everyone in the ESL could have a little sign with a '£' on it and hold it up. Dunno what tune it would play though. Some Steps for our new manager?

We could do the opening bars of Money by Pink Floyd, only it's in 7/4 time. One can only imagine the cacophony emanating from 'Challenged Corner'.Prufrock wrote:Everyone in the ESL could have a little sign with a '£' on it and hold it up.
