Well, in my opinion he's Floundering.Spartan2 wrote:This is not the time or the plaice.jaffka wrote:There's a few red herrings.
I know very few who think he's a Dab hand.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

because finance dictates that we are fishing in an overgrown urban canal rather than a well-stocked country salmon farm... catching some dross is an occupational hazard in those circumstances.Bruce Rioja wrote:
You obviously missed the real question then.I'll make it clearer. If Freedman's 'shown that he knows the sort of player we need' as BWFCI attests, then why's he not been fishing where the fish are rather than dredging the canal?
plus - and here's another obvious answer... such is life! you can know what you want - think you have found it - and yet discover that it wasn't actually as good as you first thought.
I can't remember a time in my many years of supporting Bolton when we haven't bought some dross. that's just how it goes - buying players involves little certainty (especially in the places we have to buy them) - it isn't an exact science...
are you really disagreeing with BWFCi here? Do you not think that on balance Dougie has shown he knows what kind of player we need?
without shedloads of cash, though - knowing what you need and managing to secure those players without the odd failure isn't as straightforward as you might imagine...

And surely you throw the shit back. Otherwise we just throw it at DougieBruce Rioja wrote:That's a little like Ronan Keating helpfully informing us that 'Life is a Roller coaster', but thanks anyway.thebish wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:If you throw enough shit at a wall then eventually some will stick. Danns, Jutkiewicz, Mason and to a lesser degree Hutton have all made very decent impacts.
because if you're fishing in a bargain-bucket that contains mostly shit and the occasional hard-to-find gem - then you will simply catch shit sometimes...
if you fish in a bucket that only had gems and the occasional tiny well-hidden turd - you will catch more gems...

I imagine dougie will throw whatever shit back that he can... problem is - when contracts are signed they are attached by that little legal hook on the end of the line...Hoboh wrote:When your fishing you don't keep the crap just for the sake of it!because if you're fishing in a bargain-bucket that contains mostly shit and the occasional hard-to-find gem - then you will simply catch shit sometimes...

Seriously though our lack of finances don't allow us to take this devil-may-care scatter gun approach that Bish is advocating.

Which leads us back to slapdash shit recruiting in the first place.thebish wrote: I imagine dougie will throw whatever shit back that he can... problem is - when contracts are signed they are attached by that little legal hook on the end of the line...
Has Dyche employed Freedman like tactics at Burnley?

What recruitment has Freedman done that is demonstrably poor?Bruce Rioja wrote:Which leads us back to slapdash shit recruiting in the first place.thebish wrote: I imagine dougie will throw whatever shit back that he can... problem is - when contracts are signed they are attached by that little legal hook on the end of the line...

I'll give you Beckford, though he is our top scorer, but not the right choice.
Other than that I'd say it has been solid enough and in some cases more than that.

Trotter, Cravies, Hall, Bastos can't get a game in the stiffs, Baptiste...

I don't reckon that's bad for the time he's been here and the pond/canal/bucket we're fishing in...

Bastos and Hall are kids.Bruce Rioja wrote:Trotter, Cravies, Hall, Bastos can't get a game in the stiffs, Baptiste...
Baptiste on a free is hardly a terrible deal imo. Decent enough player at this level.
Trotter is still very early days.
Craig Davies, was cheap and hasn't worked out.
I don't think any of that is demonstraby terrible.
No manager will get every deal right. No manager in history. But on balance Medo, Spearing, Jutkiewicz, Dawson, Mason, Hutton etc on balance is a good record and more than the odd "one off".
Re: Freedman out!
no it doesn't.Bruce Rioja wrote:Which leads us back to slapdash shit recruiting in the first place.thebish wrote: I imagine dougie will throw whatever shit back that he can... problem is - when contracts are signed they are attached by that little legal hook on the end of the line...

Re: Freedman out!
Dawson? Cherry picking there, aren't you? If you want to bring last seasons in as well that's fine by me. What was he called from Southampton? Butter......?BWFC_Insane wrote:Bastos and Hall are kids.Bruce Rioja wrote:Trotter, Cravies, Hall, Bastos can't get a game in the stiffs, Baptiste...

Re: Freedman out!
Of course it does. To end up in the situation you describe means a player's been poorly recruited in the first place.thebish wrote:no it doesn't.Bruce Rioja wrote:Which leads us back to slapdash shit recruiting in the first place.thebish wrote: I imagine dougie will throw whatever shit back that he can... problem is - when contracts are signed they are attached by that little legal hook on the end of the line...
