Fair enough. I'm such a soft shithouse that the word "Paki" offends me.Lofthouse Lower wrote:'WARNING, CONTAINS OPINIONS AND STRONG LANGUAGE - STAY AWAY IF EASILY OFFENDED/PRETENTIOUS'
I don't care anymore. I've tried to do the decent thing, and get a fecking verbal twatting for it. It's a vile word, but as a decent number of you are falling over yourselves to wank yourself silly over seeing someone use it, there you go. Paki. Paki paki paki. Are we all suitably happy that we've seen a naughty word? Well done.

Actually I had no clue what the P word was that you were referring to. Feel a bit silly now as I did try to guess what it was and wasn't even close to getting the correct answer.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Fair enough. Well, there you go. Pretentious little me offended by that piece of horrible, vile, scumbag word that brought about racial hatred more than any other bit of language.
And yes, I'll take a ban for using it in the public forum. Make it fecking permanent if need be. If it's seen as an acceptable word to use on here, maybe it's not the forum I thought it was.

Re: The Trotters v Spurs
When has it ever been used on here? I think you've caught the wrong end of the stick and have run with it. The conversation was surrounding the use of 'Yids' to describe Spurs, and then one member decided that his sensibilities were offended by that.
Re: The Trotters v Spurs
A good friend of mine was walking up to campus on his first day of university. All of a sudden a white van slowed near him and the driver screamed "P*KI GO HOME".
But hey, let's all be glad that's not offensive right?

Surely, it's contextual and entirely dependent on whether it's being used perjoratively.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Fair enough. I'm such a soft shithouse that the word "Paki" offends me.Lofthouse Lower wrote:'WARNING, CONTAINS OPINIONS AND STRONG LANGUAGE - STAY AWAY IF EASILY OFFENDED/PRETENTIOUS'

Nothing to do with wanking yourself silly or owt else. It's not a vile word with no context attached. It's a contraction of Pakistani - like when you call and Australian an Ozzie or a Mancunian a Manc. If people want to add their own context, so be it.

Re: The Trotters v Spurs
Wasn't having a go at you. Haven't heard the word used in a long time so it didn't come to me. Not saying it isn't offensive or anything like that.
Re: The Trotters v Spurs
I know pakistani lads (they're actually English - as they were born here) who call themselves paki's.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Well, there you go. Pretentious little me offended by that piece of horrible, vile, scumbag word that brought about racial hatred more than any other bit of language.

I know Asian friends who have referred to themselves as Pakis. And I'm offended by that. And when I've told them, they've apologised.
To be honest, I can count the number of Asian friends on oine hand, but I can also count the number of friends I have on two hands. But what's your point? Does the number of friends within a certain demographic automatically stop your right to be offended by vile behaviour?
Oh, and I'll lighten up when we're not glorifying or trivialising vile, racist language, thank you.

No one is glorifying or trivialising anything. You've made your point. Let's move on; this is a match thread.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Oh, and I'll lighten up when we're not glorifying or trivialising vile, racist language, thank you.
