Re: The BWSA
I want an answer to my question; I thought that I'd made that quite clear. I'll try to make it a little more simple. Oh, hang on, I can't. OK - How come the BWSA charges less for season ticket holders than it does for those that aren't? It's that fecking simple!!!! Go on, answer the question!josh8 wrote:Which other explanation do you want...?Bruce Rioja wrote:So why offer it then? and it's not the amount - what I want to know is why do they offer a discount to STH's? As I said earlier, it's of absolutely no consequence to their organisation as to whether their members hold season tickets or just go whenever they can afford to.keveh wrote:People are actually complaining about the difference of a fiver over a year.
This organisation calls itself the Bolton Wanderers Supporters Association doesn't it? So how come it differentiates? I'm not complaining, I just require an answer - and you're not the man to give it, clearly.
The BWSA where presented with an opportunity of a lifetime...to present its self to over 20,000 prospective season ticket holders... the decision was taken to discount the membership to STH'S as an incentive, it's already turning out to be the smartest move the association has taken in over 10yrs and is set to see its membership numbers at an all time high... Can't see what your problem is....?
People moaned that the bwsa wasn't representative of its members or it didn't have any members... now people are moaning that they're recruiting new members and having the audacity to ask them to be more proactive and representative....?
May the bridges I burn light your way

Christ Almighty, this whole thread shows us at our worst.
An organisation quite separate to our own offers people a chance to join chooses to offer a discount and we go all needy/demandy/pissy about it. It's their call, full-fckg-stop.
I won't be taking it up, though if I did I'd be doing it for £5 not £10. Hardly Earth shattering either way.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Just can't understand the fuss. If the BWSA have managed to increase their membership with this initiative then good on em. I won't join but at least they are trying to create something positive. Perhaps folk prefer to just piss and moan though rather than anything constructive! There is obviously a lot of bitterness on here towards the BWSA for some reason I don't know! And to some extent to STHs!

Well, cynicism at least. And I don't get it either. BWFC is a big enough part of my life already - so I won't join BWSA. But I approve of having a supporters association. And of it trying to represent the interests of fans. I think season ticket holders do get 'privileges' in various ways to 'reward' their up front payment (club card, ticketing etc). Nowt wrong with this being extended to BWSA membership. Certainly not worth foaming at the mouth over a fiver.BWFC_Insane wrote:Just can't understand the fuss. Seems like a good thing that the internet BWFC community doesn't have a say in things

The way Sluffy jumps on every thread the BWSA create, one of the BWSA members must have had it away with his wife!
The Sherpa Van Trophy! We've won it one time!
Re: The BWSA
the answer is simple. Bruce can open up the Denmark Branch of the BWSA and charge everyone 41.9590 Danish Krone...

I find all the fiery passion a bit bemusing to say the least.

You used to get ten DK to the £1, you know? I'm not sure who to blame!

Bet you don't criticise them for it, though.

Re: The BWSA
This thread, more than any other, completely illustrates a major problem that BWFC has with it's supporters.
A BWFC approved club, which for an annual subscription can offer social evenings and question and answer sessions with the players and management comes on an independent forum in an effort to recruit new members and is greeted with incredulous hostility.
Pathetic arguments and criticism are flung from all directions towards it for no real reason other than that they are new and not part of The Wanderer clique.
It's no wonder our support is so fragmented, some get behind the team, some want to moan all the time, some slag off players to the nth degree and a minority (like I witnessed at Wembley and also at some home games) just want to fight between themselves.
ULTIMATELY WE ARE ALL BOLTON WANDERERS SUPPORTERS AND WE SHOULD HELP EACH OTHER AND GET BEHIND THE TEAM

Re: The BWSA
Went to the meeting last night which was held in the Wanderers Suite at the Reebok. I'm not sure what's happened behind the scenes but the blokes who took over the running of the association weren't there and we were back to a turn out of about 40 people. There has obviously been something going on and it looks like the "take over " has fallen foul of some deed or other.
Back to last night, I arrived a little late during a talk from someone involved with the fund to raise money for Nat's statue, he was explaining where it would go - on the grassed area at the front of the stadium, it will be bronze and one and a half times life size. At the moment there is no firm idea of what it would look like they are open to suggestions. The group were asked to volunteer to collect at the game on Saturday and a number offered their services.
We then had a talk from Jimmy Phillips about the running of the academy, also present were Joe Riley, who looked very nervous, and Michael O'Hallloran who said very little. I always though he was Irish, turns out he's from Scotland and was at Celtic's academy, where his dad runs one of the teams, before coming down here.
No great revelations were made by JP but it was interesting to hear how the academy runs, with boys as young as 6 and 7 there through to the older ones in the Under 18 team.
All in all a pleasent way to spend a couple of hours but I would like to know what has happened to the guys who launched the take over last season and I notice that the BWSA website hasn't been updated for quite a while.
Anyone know what has gone on???
