If his kids have some interest, 3% a year on a hundred million isn't shocking. There'll be better and less risky, but you never know, the stingy tight fisted old fecker, ahem, might have written some off in his will.
Shut up, I'm escaping from shit work in four weeks, the football is back, we're finally signing people, and maybe we might not be signing Jerome. I can dream.

I think you've missed the boat if you're jumping on the looting bandwagon.Prufrock wrote:Shut up, I'm escaping from shit work in four weeks.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

There must be a couple billion kettles in the world and he lives in the Isle of Man, I suspect the estimates of his wealth we see are pretty conservative.

And another observation rather than anything else, is that Owen Coyle was mighty impressive. Honest, frank answers, engaging, bright and crucially very upbeat about the new season and the future of the club.
A real sense that he's building things piece by piece from the ground up, infrastructure, academy all got big mentions. Where there were problems he admitted them and shared solutions. He clearly thinks we're going in the right direction.
Came away thinking perhaps we should all just trust him!

I always came away from the prior ones thinking that OC should have been a politician. Great motivator too.
Still, the event sounded shite - BWSA did well though.

True but it wasn't empty sound bites there was real substance too, and he clearly believes in the club and where he can take us and how he can do it.Lofthouse Lower wrote:I always came away from the prior ones thinking that OC should have been a politician. Great motivator too.

He believes the squad he inherited wasn't good enough, though he stressed that part of that is down to different managers liking different "flavours" of players. And that he'd addressed that now and added players he thought would take us forwards.
Given what was said, I'll be surprised if first choice midfield isn't Pratley and NRC!

Suits me.
Least surprising point of it all seems to be that Gowling is a boring nice person. Seems to me that someone should have asked him what the hell he thinks he's doing up there with the manager and chairman? DMB.

Someone made reference to Coyle saying that Mark Davies was 'thick' - in what context did he say this?

He was told by the club Doctor to take two ibuprofen with food - he was later found in the kitchen at Euxton putting them on a bread roll!

Quality, Mavies sacked off school young then I take it!
Don't suppose he referenced the full back position at all, did he sign Mears as a starter for instance?
Interesting comments re Bogdan - wonder when he'll be #1?

Aye awful phrase. But I did come away thinking Coyle could be the best manager in the world. Really impressed, hadn't seen him up close before.officer_dibble wrote:He's on X Factor this winter then
