Combined with the fact the opposition are probably the best we've played this pre-season, by far, perhaps?
Have to say though that Kevin Davies increasingly looks like an old man trying to keep up. Definitely need a striker and a wide man in or two strikers!
You'd hope that in the next 7 days we'll bring in at least one striker..?
I'd hope that, but nothing in the transfer market is happening quickly anywhere. By end of August is the most important point and we need 3 players for me, 2 minimum.

End of the day whatever happens were not going to get a player as good as Elmander and none of our striking targets, Jerome and NGog will be cheap, fees or wages! Ah well....

only 5,000 there, not great.... But maybe everyone is saving up for QPR. To be honest, this fixture never really appealed to me, i think these preseason friendlies against average spanish teams have been done now.

The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,

They all say our days are numbered,

in that case we are truly and royally fecked!!

N'gog and/or Jerome would be better than that non-scoring headless Swedish chicken

A bag of cement could have satisfactorily done the job of Elmander for his first two seasons here.

I'd be a lot happier if same bag of cement were still in our side right now.

Yes, undoubtedly. He knows our game and Klasnic still is a bit unproven in how he'll last at playing ninety minutes regularly. Elmander is tough enough and a far better option than any untried new striker. If, as some seem to want, KD won't start every game, then undoubtedly, yes.

"Knowing our game" didn't lead to him being prolific did it?
nor did it stop him hiding by running down cul-de-sacs to look busy rather than do what he was brought in to do- score goals
all signings are a bit of a punt- but frankly i'd have any that we have been linked before Elmander

Anyone who would rather have Cameron Jerome than Elmander is a know-nowt fcuk-wit. JSL.

How "prolific" are you anticipating?

What a stupid thing to say abou our top scorer last season. If he's so shit how come he was our top scorer from half a season up front?

Fook me what we have left must be a lot worse. And Jerome better than Elmander, what a clueless twonk you are!

a fcuk wit? nice to see opinions are still valued on here. Elmander was utter dogshite for most of his time with us- and ai was one who gave him the benefit of the doubt for his first season and a half- Jerome might be equally poor but could hardly be any worse in terms of value for money.

i'm "anticipating" less than "hoping" but more prolific than Elmander would hardly be difficult.

"clueless twonk"- oh just feck off- i can't be arsed

I reckon Jerome would be just about capable of 6 goals a season.

They are valued but need a bit of substance. Latter part of the season, due to midfield injuries, Elmander played way out of the norm for him. He still put the effort in and did it well enough. Now he's gone, Eaves is injured and at this moment we've signed nobody in his place. Not much wonder I said I wished he were still here, is it? Elmander and Davies got eighteen goals plus assist between them last season, who's going to do it now?

Would prefer N'Gog to Jerome all day. Never rated Jerome and N'Gog hasn't done to bad at Liverpool considering his opportunity's.

Just about. Possibly. I'm sure his 3 last season would have you drooling at the fact he'd replaced Elmander. I suspect you'd never refer to not being able to trap a bag of cement ever again.

Depends if we pay upwards of £8m for him.

So how many goals per season should £8m strikers get?

More than 6 a season.
