You said youngster.. Not academy product. In that case, Mcateer can be discounted as we 'bought' him.BWFC_Insane wrote:His debut was actually at Blackburn!boltonboris wrote:Mark Davies was excellent on his debut
And he had just been bought for 1M quid from Wolves. Hardly the same as bringing through a lad who has been at Bolton since he was 7!

I think the Steinsson "love in" went on for quite a while. All that chest thumping and stuff.Bruce Rioja wrote:As was Gretar Steinsson, as I recall.boltonboris wrote:Mark Davies was excellent on his debut
Although I seem to be in a very large minority, I don't think Steinsson's too bad.

Indeed. But I mean we stuck Davies in the team a week after buying him.boltonboris wrote:You said youngster.. Not academy product. Don't think we can claim any part in his development!

Was listeng to Matty Taylor on 5 Live ( he was co-commentator at the Arsenal vs Bolton League Cup Match ) he said Klasnic was the most natural finisher he'd ever played with.
I've been watching Bolton over 30 years and for me he's up there with Worthy, Walker, McGinley & Anelka. Just hope now he's nearly 100% match fit, he can push on
& get towards the 20 goals mark.

If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England

Its the stock answer, but if he was 21 with two functioning kidneys, he wouldn't be here.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I'm in that minority group with you to be honest, Worthy, but then we've seen Phil Brown playWorthy4England wrote:I think the Steinsson "love in" went on for quite a while. Re: klasnic
Ahem. Mark Davies made his debut against Spurs, the weekend after the Blackburn draw. We'd sold Nolan and brought in Sparky in the intervening days, and the vast majority of us were shocked and disappointed that we'd stuck a kid in as replacement for our captain. More fool us.boltonboris wrote:You said youngster.. Not academy product. Disclaimer edit. I don't remember seeing Sparky come on vs Blackburn, and I was there. I'd trust the Wiki evidence, except that it's Wiki, and as such can be as unreliable as your average drunk uncle...

God.. that WAS a debut and a half.. he looked electric! Was it the game when Rod Wallace and Ricketts scored? 2-1, or 2-2

Shame he never repeated it.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: klasnic
Right-back James Sinclair looked pretty good on his debut, as far as I recall. He's now playing for an obscure Polish club having been released by Gateshead.

Never a fairer and more succinct summation of Megson's midfield tactics have I read before.BWFC_Insane wrote: I remember Nolan pointing at where he should stand a few times!

Another Bolton old boy, Jaroslaw Fojut, is back in Polish football too...apparently he's considered one of the best defenders in Poland right now.

Augustyn was another one.. Left us to go for first team footy at Legia, then moved to a Serie A side!
