Not buying that Worthy - you're not usually shy with putting a view forward. Besides it's a forum for discussing/arguing the very like.Worthy4England wrote:Given we don't know who's on that list and if we suggest anyone half decent, others will just say "X won't come here", it's a fairly pointless exercise speculating.
Fair to say there are certainly managers out there with a better prem record than OC. There are probably better managers out there that have no prem record.
If you are in "just want a change camp" fair enough. For me, to call for a new manager on the offchance there probably/maybe/might someone better available is not the best basis for a change.
I am more than willing to entertain and discuss realistic alternatives - I just haven't identified any myself and haven't seen any offered forward by others. If there is a better manager out there that can make more of our current situation I'm all for it. That's true whatever our position.
Aside: Can TD/Crazy/Kev move this discussion to the "Time to go thread" ?

Plenty of names been mentioned previously. Some of which I already agreed with.
To just say "there's no on better we can get" is as ludicrous as me suggesting that old red nose might consider it.

Nobody's saying "there's no one better we can get". Well, I'm not.
Some are asking "who is better?", because they can't think of anyone.
It's a bit more ludicrous to say "I know someone but I'm not telling you because you might not agree with it".

Its got f*ck all to do with who's better than Coyle, I'm sure theres hundreds. Its that we have no money. Really, this time we don't. Not Megson "sort of not much money, go on then heres a 30 million quid net spend" we're clealry at "theres nowt left for yer cocker" territory.
Now then, who in this scenario are wew going to attract who would be worth the pay-off/hiring merry go round, which would be just about the last of our cash?

I'm sure I've previously said Hughes would be my pick, if he would come here.Wandering Willy wrote:Nobody's saying "there's no one better we can get". Well, I'm not.

But all the people who post on here that know him or Gartside personally, tell me he "wouldn't come"...

We are more than likely going to get some money for Cahill leaving.Lord Kangana wrote:Its got f*ck all to do with who's better than Coyle, I'm sure theres hundreds. Its that we have no money. It would be nice to have a manager who isn't going to waste the little we will have. And one who can maximise the resources we do have.
We aren't getting the best out of what we've got because there is not a suitable structure or organisation in the way the team is set up!
If we get any money for Cahill it has to be used properly. Coyles record signing can't get in the team at the minute!

Coyle's transfer record on the square root of f*ck all is exceedingly good. Lets not airbrush history. Holden and NRC represent some of the best free signings we've ever made. Wheater cost less then Danny Shittu, let alone Zat Knight. Lets not pretend.

But there are a whole list that are not. Players who cant get in the side. It's only very recently that he put Wheater above Knight.
Whatever way you slice it he hasn't a clue how to get the best from what we have.
And can anyone explain why he bothered to sign Tuncay?

He's on a lot more than Danny Shittu was put it that way.Lord Kangana wrote:How much did he cost?
Sammy Lee had less to spend in that summer than Coyle has had this.
Lost some key players too.
Still was right to sack him.
Same applies now. We are under performing. And that's the bottom line.
If we go down, then add another 50M quid to the debt each year on top of the losses we are already reporting. Going down is not an option, not if we still want a Bolton Wanderers!

So cheap then, after we went all round the houses to get there.
And just FYI, Tuncay would have to be on over £110k a week to be costing us as much as Big Dan.

To be fair to those who say he wouldn't come, Hughes did say after leaving Fulham that he was looking for a better opportunity, or words to that effect. I'm not sure that we fall into that category, though as he hasn't exactly been snapped up (as he probably expected) then perhaps he has since lowered his sights.

Did I miss something or did Danny Shittu cost us less than Wheater surely?
