Close it was 2006/07 when we did it twice in one year.

Portsmouth, Liverpool, Newcastle, Blackburn. (Sept-Oct)
WHU, Villa, City, Newcastle, Portsmouth (Dec)
Ahh yes, the famous season when "Allardyce had lost it" and the squad was shit.

Actually that's not bad (though it should be in the joke thread....).

Big game this one is. A win would be great, and likely give us enough confidence to get through the remainder of the season with.

I reckon he'll go 4-4-2 with Kev in for Klas and possibly Steinsson for Alonso (though he might leave that latter change for the Toon game). I'd prefer 4-2-3-1 but as a former striker and a KD fan he'll reward the two successive goals.

One more thing. Fulham aren't very good away. They've got less than half the goals and wins on the road than that famously awful Bolton side. With Dempsey and Dembele in midfield Baron Greenback's basically playing an open 4-2-4 with little reward. Get in among them early and we should prove we want/need it more than them.

COYW indeed.

Although I hope he makes that Steinsson switch for Fulham, given how Alonso played against them at the Cottage. Not his finest moment.

Is Steinsson fit, do we know?

Point of order here, I thought Avram Grant was colloquially recognised as "Baron Greenback", and not, as postulated here, the erstwhile Martin Jol.

Can we have a poll added to clear this up?

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Tut tut. ;)

Agreed that they are a very open side and the gaps can be found if you play around them. Was it Swansea who completely destroyed them on their own turf a few weeks back?

Let's keep the momentum (and tempo) going in this one, there's no reason for us not to.

nowt wrong with "less than half"... the problem would have been "less goals" - but he didn't type that!

As others have said, this looks to be a very tough matchup in the midfield. The Whites should have the majority of the possession  . Jol called Dembele one of the most most talented players he's ever seen. Moved him from striker to central midfield, he's just learning the position but really good handling the ball under pressure and making good passes, combines well with Dempsey. Murphy is getting a little older but still really good, and has dropped deeper in midfield with Dembele taking over his role somewhat. Dempsey plays wing but is always cutting into space between midfield and defense (someone else mentioned that), I can see him getting his 20th goal this weekend. Andy Johnson is out, the impressive Russian Pavel Pogrebnyak is probably less than 50/50 to play, so Fulham have no #9 (probably will move Dempsey there).
Fulham are the worst away team in the EPL and lost 3 in a row before beating Norwich last week. But they killed Wolves 5-0, beat QPR 1-0, beat Blackburn 3-1, so thanks for that.

Fulham could win 4-0, but I'm calling 1-1 draw.

I was feeling more and more positive going into this game then we get hit with Coyle being named Manager of the month, and then Lawro predicts us to snatch a win. Still even with all that stacked against us I think we can snatch a victory. It's time to dig deep.

That's a lot of snatch there, Sean.

Just to be a bit of a stick in the mud, Fulham's away record, is three points short of Bolton's home record.

With just 8 goals scored away, they've managed to net 11 points. They haven't managed two goals away from home since October (and two goals away, has occurred just the once).

Both their wins away have been to Wigan and QPR, but they lost to Wolves and Blackburn.

I have 0-0 writ large on this one (as I do every year).

I'd be surprised if this was the first game on MotD.
