BWFC: Bogdan, Mears, Mills, Knight, Ricketts, Eagles, M Davies, Andrews, Petrov, K Davies, Sordell
BWFC Subs: Lonergan, Lynch, Alonso, Ream, Afobe, Wylde, Pratley, Riley, Vela, Chung-Yong, O'Halloran
I get the feeling this is the team to start vs Burnley

Re: Pre-season friendly against Barcelona
Quite possibly right. It'd be ballsy to play an all-ex-Burnley right side. I imagine they'd get a warm reception in both halves. Meanwhile, Chungy - whose absence was repeatedly trotted out as a reason for relegation - kicks his freshly-fixed heels on the bench...Bruce Rioja wrote:Exactly what I was thinking as I read it.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:BWFC: Bogdan, Mears, Mills, Knight, Ricketts, Eagles, M Davies, Andrews, Petrov, K Davies, Sordell

To be fair he was out for all of last season and I would be still thinking that he's working on his fitness

It would be worth noting that if ngog is fit to play he'll start with Sordell taking his place at the entrance selling match day programs.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Quite possibly right. So we had Afobe upfront with Sordell, did they work well together?

Re: Pre-season friendly against Barcelona
So the answer was "no you can't pay on the gate". As it happens, I ordered my ticket on-line about 15 mins before KO, so was able to pick it up from the ticket office - only just it was all locked up when I got there. Couple of people trying to pay on the gate, the wouldn't let 'em in.
To the game - my first of the pre-season. Went fearing the worst. Nowt much happened first half. They were pretty good in possession and we did a fair amount of chasing, couple of decentish chances both ends, but hardly edge of your seat stuff. Mears had a reasonable first half, Knight and Mills looked fairly solid. One great run by Mavies towards the end of the half, couple of decent runs by Petrov. Middle of the park looked a bit vacant - we always used to be fighting for that half controlled ball in MF, we don't seem to have that player there at the moment.
Second half, was better attacking-wise. Petrov was awarded the first goal in the ground - fairly speculative cross, to no-one in particular - but in the right area, sliced into the net by the defender. Our second goal was pretty decent, in terms of it being after some sustained possession, a couple of decent saves from their keeper, a couple of corners, decent Ream header well saved, and at the second set piece, bobbled to Pertov who hooked it back over his yed, for Sordell to nod in from close range.
Main observations - their two goals were a distance too easy, decent moves, but we had enough chances to stop 'em and didn't. We built a few decentish attacks that went nowhere in the end but okish build-up play. Both Eagles and CYL were fairly anonymous if the truth be told. Afobe and Sordell - didn't set the world on fire particularly as a partnership, but early days - Davo and Sordell didn't set it on fire first half either.
If we have Sordell and Afobe together, punting it doesn't really work.
So all in all, not as bad as I feared, but not as good as I'd like.
