Re: Mears frozen out !!
Yeah - funny how things come to bite you. Way McN was holding his leg thought it was his hamstring, but he carried on, so perhaps just thigh. He did get a kick in the 1st half as well. Presume from Dougies comments he doesn't like his FBs to go beyond the halfway line.Bruce Rioja wrote:McNaughton was seriously struggling with what I suspect is a thigh strain towards the end of the game today. I know that we have a break now but maybe young Douglas might have to call up the right back that he's just told can feck off just as soon as he's ready as he doesn't tally with his own idea of what a right back should be.

Have you never seen Tierney play?StaffsTrotter wrote:Yeah - funny how things come to bite you. Way McN was holding his leg thought it was his hamstring, but he carried on, so perhaps just thigh. The obvious next in line is Kellett - but he was injured today

Re: Mears frozen out !!
my comment was slightly tongue in cheek but I find DF comments baffling (too many of them tbh). Mears is nowhere near as bad as made out. He suffers occasional defensive lapses usually by being caught out of position because he is an attack minded/ overlapping FB. DF has brought in Baptiste as a FB - who frankly has been pish & McN who has been reasonably solid if unspectacular ( I know the argument will be its what we need atm). I agree Tierney was good as an attacking LB. We are currently playing 2 FBs who present little attacking threat. Our LB (because he's not one) continually has to cut inside and has been routinely skinned on the outside whenever up against a reasonable winger. To further compound matters we then also play our wide MFs (Chungy & Hall) on their wrong side - which means they are constantly cutting inside into the congestion. To me Hall was nullified by this yesterday.CAPSLOCK wrote:Have you never seen Tierney play?StaffsTrotter wrote:Yeah - funny how things come to bite you. Wasn't the great & exciting thing about Feeney - his simple & direct get to the byeline & get it in. Would he really have been the same down the left wing

With Baptiste at left back. I don't think we've lost???StaffsTrotter wrote:DF has brought in Baptiste as a FB - who frankly has been pish & McN who has been reasonably solid if unspectacular ( I know the argument will be its what we need atm). And you're just making stuff up about him being routinely skinned - its just not true
He played against Ince and did well enough for crying out loud
Even the magical Feeney had little joy
FWIW, we do miss Tierney, but if we are picking up 2ppg I'm happy to keep missing him

well if you can't see how pish he's been, then we'll just have to agree to differ.CAPSLOCK wrote:With Baptiste at left back. can't doubt his attitude and I've said before I feel sorry for the guy being asked to do what he plainly can't, but don't try and convince me he is a FB and a better FB than Mears
Re: Mears frozen out !!
So, talk me through these 'skinnings'
We've conceded 4 in the 6 games since Tierney got injured
One was his own goal, one was straight through the middle yesterday, the others nowt to do with him
You do know Baptiste is the black fella at left back, don't you?
Anyway, you talk me through Mears good performances at left back

On the evidence presented, clearly all Tierney's fault.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

By jove LK I think you're onto something.Lord Kangana wrote:On the evidence presented, clearly all Tierney's fault.
Given our RB situation, wonder when we'll have an article in the BN from Dougie, bigging up Tyrone - worked hard in training, pleased with attitude etc.
Do we have anyone else - Zat ?
