i don't see how you could be in any way certain about what bolton players are paid!

I can't see why people get so excited over Eagles, he seems to have an abundance of talent, he just doesn't want to apply it.
He doesn't seem to have any fight whatsoever in him and unfortunately, hard "graft" is what this league is all about.
On the plus side, he has single-handedly mastered the art of arriving "just a split second too late" for any challenge needed.

What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...

Re: Eagles has played 100 times for BWFC
I watched him on Saturday, especially in the second half where he cut a lone figure on the touchline.
The Blackpool defence gave him acres of space to play in and yet he hugged the touchline like he was tied to it. He put his hand up for passes from people on the other side of the pitch but I never saw/heard him shout for anything and a couple of times when we had the ball in the Blackpool corner he didn't offer himself to take a pass.
Now, I've moaned at him in the past when I wanted him to go down the line and he kept coming inside into a crowded box.
Is he scared of getting the ball?
He had his back to the ball a lot of the time too. I go mad at my lad for turning his back on the ball, as an attacker shouldn't you be watching constantly for a slip or a chance?
Overall he was a 5/10 at best.
He's a player that can give a spark. But he's also a player who couldn't give a monkey's at times.
Come on Chris. Wake up lad.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

At this level, when something like this happens and someone appears to be doing something strange, or out of character, the primary reason is that he's been told to do this. I don't think anyone would choose to hug the touchline all game without being instructed to do so.coffeymagic wrote:I watched him on Saturday, especially in the second half where he cut a lone figure on the touchline.

Just like Lonergan hoofing the ball up to the forwards and by-passing the midfield isn't by accident either.
The players are following orders. Orders they probably don't understand and don't agree with. Hence the reason they don't appear to be motivated, or understand what the game plan is.
Hope is what keeps us going.

Like how all our keepers (apart from Jussi) clearly prefer to throw the ball from time to time but were bullied out of it.
... &, as you say, it could well explain the confusion and lack of engagement from some of the players.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

DF: "Right Chris, I want you to play a wide role today."
CE: "Ok Gaffer!
DF: "Try not to keep coming inside and clogging up the middle because I don't want Andre and Mohamed tripping over you and Neil.
CE: "Ok Gaffer!"
DF: "We want to keep a bit of width first 45."
CE: "Ok Gaffer!"
.
CYL: "What was that all about Chris?"
CE: "F*cked if I know!"

Re: Eagles has played 100 times for BWFC
It wasn't as if he was dragging their deefenders out with him though. He was left pretty much in acres of space for the ful 90 as if Blackpool thought 'If he gets it we'll sort it then.'
I like Eagles. He's a match winner but we need to be adaptable and take advantage of things as they happen. If he's 60yards from the ball, or his nearest other player all the time then he has to come inside surely?
'Chris, stay out wide. I want you to try and get down the line as often as possible and whip the ball in.'
'Right boss.'
'However, use your common sense. If you have an opportunity to show inside for the ball then y'know do it.'
'Right boss.'

I like this. And it doesn't sound to me like there has been any sort of a falling out at all. Quite the opposite. Interesting to hear he is still struggling with the ankle injury.

I'm a fan - but even I can think of 20 thousand reasons (a week) why he likes it at Bolton

I'd argue he could probably have similar elsewhere.CAPSLOCK wrote:I'm a fan - but even I can think of 20 thousand reasons (a week) why he likes it at Bolton
And almost certainly if he stays here he will have to do so for far less......

That bit was interesting.

And surely he was misquoted elsewhere, surely he said, “That c*nt Freedman will vouch for me. It’s just all paper talk.!

Oh indeed, sometimes looked lost during the Prem season (didn't they all?) apart from a couple of standout performances.CAPSLOCK wrote:Or that he's fallen out with the managerboltonboris wrote:Good to read, and hopefully can put to ed this misconception that he "dunt giv a shit"

But carried us for half of last season.

See, I thought he was a really poor signing (for a Prem club), then I saw what shite came after. Now I agree with you. One of Coyle's better signings...
