Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Iles seems to think that a deal fell through yesterday. Won't name the player but presumably Popov.
Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
You would expect the staff to be aware of the availability of the player.bobo the clown wrote:So you chase a full back .... "hooray" .... and it turns out he's already on loan and the rules say you can't be loaned out twice into the same competition in the same season, but it's not the same competition is it, yes it is, no its not .....
Much as I want to blame Freedman for more or less everything post the Black Death his team, scouts and the guys agent should be up on this.
WBA must have one hell of a defence to have him and Dawson not playing.
(I've just had a look .... they really haven't. What's going on there ?)
A point to consider on this, is that the originator is Nixon. When the six fingered rovers fired him off, the subsequent rumours and gossip he started were considerered by some to be vindictive and unsettling.
Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Deal could be back, it's all about the "interpretation" of the rules by the looks of it. We say we're loaning him from Albion but they say we look to be loaning from Kiev which is not allowed anyway according to their local paper we might have made some headway and he seems keen to play for us

Oracle has this to say:
Premier League querying whether u can do it. Ridiculous. Don't seem to know own rules. Bolton, West Brom, Popov all want it

Dawson started tonight versus Chelsea at the Hawthorns ahead of Lugano.

Cheers. I've kinda given up on that one, asDr Hotdog wrote:Dawson started tonight versus Chelsea at the Hawthorns ahead of Lugano.
(1) he's back in the WBA frame
(2) even if he comes available, better teams will want him
(3) even if he comes available and prefers to come here, we only seem interested in loaning a left-back
Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
If a left-back isn't doing, McNaughton wasn't in the Cardiff sqaud tonight after their end of January splurge. Looks to be behind Theophile-Cathérine, John and Fabio for full-backs.
He were a good 'un, and would allow us to stop playing centre-halves who can't move together. Left back (or failing that RB); centre-back; striker for me. In that order, assuming Beckford isn't far off.
No more midfielders!

Especially not if they play like Trotter did tonight. Pedestrian doesn't come close. I'm not giving up on him yet, he'll be OK once he's had his running lessons like Vela.Prufrock wrote:If a left-back isn't doing, McNaughton wasn't in the Cardiff sqaud tonight after their end of January splurge. Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Indeed. Worth noting (again) that McNaughton has played left-back on many occasions for Cardiff and Aberdeen. He's also the type of leader we need, and with him in the team we only lost 23% of games (52% without). DF should be, and presumably is, badgering OGS, who understandably wanted to check out his entire squad but now appears to be promoting youth and signings.Prufrock wrote:If a left-back isn't doing, McNaughton wasn't in the Cardiff sqaud tonight after their end of January splurge. There can't only have been me that noticed McNaughton play LB for Cardiff (expertly well) against us in the cup, btw.Prufrock wrote:If a left-back isn't doing, McNaughton wasn't in the Cardiff sqaud tonight after their end of January splurge.

Wor Gaffa, no expert in footie, singled Trotter out as looking like a bloke that'd won a competition. I couldn't disagree.LeverEnd wrote: Especially not if they play like Trotter did tonight. Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Philadelphia Union manager John Hackworth has confirmed his interest in signing Bolton defender Zat Knight.
The new MLS season begins on March 8 and clubs across the United States are beginning to finalise their rosters ahead of the new campaign. Although the British transfer window has closed, the American window remains open and deals to take players to the country are permitted.
Reports on Sunday suggested Knight was a target for the Union, although Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman said there was no truth to the rumours at a press conference on Monday.
The 33-year-old was absent from Bolton's 1-0 defeat to Burnley on Tuesday night, with David Wheater taking his place in the starting line-up, and the Union manager says Knight is still a name he is interested in - saying he 'talked to Zat's agents a couple of weeks ago'.
"Truthfully, we have been in some conversations [with Knight]," Hackworth told MLSSoccer.com. "But at the same time, we are looking at a lot of different countries and have vetted out many different center back options.
"I would think it depends on how these next couple of games go and where we are. He's certainly one of the guys we’re still considering.
"We still think we need to add a potential center back to our roster."

Duggie denied this, does he actually know what is going on?
