Welsh Wynne is either male or female, but he was called Ronald anyway.

Now, now Tango.

Wyn is the masculine, Wynne the feminine (means 'white').

Wynn, is an altogether separate name (means 'friend' ... which was metaphorically 'white/clean/pure') and may be used by a male or female.

An inordinate amount of Welsh words relate to colours, or basic farming/landscape terms.

... & yes, he was Ronald Wyn Davies, but always used his 'middle name' ... as is the case with many, many great people (ahem.)
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".
