Walford is a long-time Martin O'Neill associate - at Wycombe, Norwich, Leicester, Celtic, Villa, Sunderland and R o Ireland. At all except Sunderland, Walford has been the chief coach rather than the assistant manager job (which was John Robertson, except for Ireland when it's Keano). But at Sunderland Walford was the chief sidekick, and he's certainly got the experience - 25 years in senior coaching roles.

Just hope he doesn't insist on a back three...

At least it's not Roy Keane.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

A Lennon-Keane team wouldn't be dull!

I'm a little concerned that the one place MON really failed in the one place this guy was the assistant...

Though as long as he can keep the back 4 looking good we'll be reet.

Walford sounds like a good idea.

I'm encouraged by Mjallby's departure for a few reasons. Whatever the truth of it, easy as he may be on the female eye, he doesn't actually bring anything to the party, so to speak. If Lennon could nick Robertson too I'd be delighted, then we'd get on a roll!

How do you know what Mjallby brings or doesn't? I get the experience thing but experience doesn't guarantee anything. Mjallby might just be the right personality to work with Lennon....

That's irrelevant. As someone said somewhere else, 'They're different skill sets.'

Now there's a thought, I bet he'd do a good job.

Daniel Day-Lewis would be shit mind, no right foot.
