I tired to adopt a Spanish model but the missus put the kibosh on it...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:...and of course the Bayern bigwigs would love to adopt the English model. Or better yet the Spanish model, without all that collective-bargaining-for-TV-deals stuff...

Probably tish and pish.
But if we were playing the ex-player guessing-game, an outside bet might be Paul Fletcher. Former CEO of Burnley, MD of Coventry, and of course oversaw the Reebok construction. He only left us to help the FA move to Wembley, and didn't enjoy that. Still only 64 and well-connected within the game.
And as it happens, we've just interviewed him...

the esteemed updater was formerly of this parish... so it MUST be true!throwawayboltonian wrote:Yeah I'd take LOVS with a pinch, no a mountain of salt; it's a fan blog masquerading as an unofficial news site. They've gone from doomsaying about administration to "breaking" that we've got a saviour within a day of each other. I've got some links to the club through some backroom staff, and I'm sure I'm not the only one on the site who does, and even little snippets I get from them can be wrong so I suspect that is the case here. Or there's no leak at all, and they want to generate some ad revenue from clickbait.
As a fan I do hope it is true or that something is lined up, pretty much anything is better than our current disinterested leadership, but I'm not holding much stock by their leaks. I do find it odd that it was all smoke and mirrors last night, but now they can comfortably name the supposed consortium and ex-player "cannot be named"

Re: Question about a fan takeover
They've put more details up today. Obviously they've heard something. But there is a big difference between hearing something and a deal being close. John McGinlay back in August said on the radio he'd heard a takeover was imminent. But it turned out to be wrong information. There were talks but nothing got remotely close to being finalised.
So whilst I doubt the information is entirely fictitious, the details probably are being somewhat embellished.

The same John McGinlay who yesterday said that Gartside is pretty much telling any takeover bidders that he is to remain as Chairman and people saying saying "well you can fvck off then" and walking away..BWFC_Insane wrote:They've put more details up today. He's said in no uncertain terms that it's time he steps aside and I couldn't agree more
Perhaps he knows something

Gartside is an employee of Eddie Davies. Think this through. Eddie wants out. And is employing Gartside to sell. As if Eddie Davies is sitting there losing potentially £30M because his employee is demanding a role in any new setup.
It really does worry me how ridiculous notions are given any credence at all.

Re: Question about a fan takeover
^^^ well, first & foremost we ARE up for sale and so you would hope that discussions now & again take place.
It's no bad thing if, whatever our current predicament, ED takes care in who he sells to. For every potential good outcome there are many bad ones.
.... & John McGinley, leg-end that he is, has an axe to grind with Gartside who sacked his pal St. Owen of Coyle and iirc that meant he lost a cushy PR & 'Scouting' job.
Finally ... when a new owner arrives it will be their decision.and theirs alone whether they keep Gartside on as chairman. Setting it as a condition is pretty unlikely and even if it was the new owner would be at liberty to pay up any compensation set out in PG's contract and invite him to return his pass and car park space.
