Not convinced by Gordon at al. Looks like an athlete we are trying to turn into a footballer

Especially as Crewe seem savvy enough to rope-a-dope us into committing to the high press, which they then cut through.

It’s worrying how little we press. Evatt talks about a high press and this system demands it. Yet we don’t do it. Crewe are and showing us how.

I haven’t got a fecking clue what our centre kids are supposed to be doing. Forwards are pressing. Where are white and sarce?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 7:40 pmIt’s worrying how little we press. Evatt talks about a high press and this system demands it. Yet we don’t do it. This defence is probably the worst I’ve seen. Basic passes and crosses are carving it apart. I’d say this is 11 players not having a clue what they are meant to be doing or what shape to be in.

I know it’s a work in progress but I haven’t a fcuking clue what it’s supposed to look like. Centre halves that stand around scratching their arse, wing backs that won’t overlap, centre mids awol. Thankfully the keeper looks a good ‘un.

Shite, that.
No communication, not fight and no intent.
Sarc has been dire for a game and half now and need to step up. He scored vs Bradford, but he's showing sod all. Crawford looks like he thinks tackling is an English word for fishing. There's no point moving to the man if you then just watch him drift past you.
Gordon has been really, really poor. He looks like he doesn't believe he has the ability required. He hesitates on the ball and hopes for an easier option.
The defence (and Crellin) aren't talking and have no idea whose man is whose.
They need an absolute bollocking at half time. Also Doyle is limping and needs to come off.

Very poor at the back, the middle is wide open every time Crewe come forward. We're not creating anything for our two strikers to latch on to. Oh for a Wheater and Beevers at the back!! Gordon doesn't seem to defend at all, a bit lost even at this level.
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

3 halves in. Crellin player of the season by a country mile. All too easy for Crewe. Simple defensive stuff, get there first etc. Seems to have bypassed training. Number of balls travelling 30 yards to their player in our area is stunning. Attacking, we've showed glimpses. White has a pass on him, Crawford had a decent 10 minutes, but keeper not had a save to make and generally our best play has been between halfway and edge of their area...lots to do if we've got amy aspirations...

I am yet to see any evidence from any of the defenders or the 'keeper that there's somebody in there who will come through a man and win the ball as needed. There's no fight in them.
That's not to criticise Crellin, as I've been impressed, but he's a young lad and he's clearly not learnt to communicate and command his box yet.
We look soft as shit, to be honest with you.

Could see us shipping Brockbank out and signing a proper right sided defender.

Second half begins...2 absolutely disastrous attempted tackles there, Crawford and Delaney!

Add Taft to the sleepy centre half roster!

The instructions? Go in hard? We are never going to risk injuries for this game.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 8:01 pmI am yet to see any evidence from any of the defenders or the 'keeper that there's somebody in there who will come through a man and win the ball as needed. Hickman looks a good prospect.
