Sheehan is one of our biggest problems. In midfield - he's more problematic than playing Baptiste at RB IMO.

That list was here: viewtopic.php?p=1117822#p1117822officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 7:57 pmDSB did a free transfer right back list on another thread. I suspect he picked best/most likely and the options were either injury prone and unfit or unlikely to be better than brockbank. It’s a failed gamble on Evatt and markhams behalf but I’m not up for signing anyone just cos we are in a bad spot. If someone can come in on trial and prove their worth (Lee last season) fair enough.
There are lots of free agents listed on Transfermarkt, including very many who would either ask more than we can give or wouldn't get a work permit. For my search, I narrowed down by “right back” and those who had last played for teams currently in Champo/L1/L2 – but anyone can extend the search scope here:

Known names - 'free transfers'. If FV are serious then we'll have Dani Alves in the building as we speak....he's only 38...

So, er, to other matters.
What are we seeing the midfield as tomorrow, now?

Lets paint a reasonable scenario - MJ booked, Lee has an injury recurrence at the same time. What's our midfield then?officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 2:32 pmWell I guess that’s the midfield picked now then! GT first reserve…
Iles seemed to say last week that Comley can only be registered in January......

Hard to say as you're getting into hypotheticals...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 2:34 pmLets paint a reasonable scenario - MJ booked, Lee has an injury recurrence at the same time. For me, it's MJ-Lee-Sheehan tomorrow, against a team likely to come and be difficult to break down. But Tomo may be a more suitable candidate for some upcoming games.
Absolutely no question we're a weaker squad now than yesterday. What we'll never know is if we'd have been a weaker squad, mutinous or divided, had the club not acted as it has. So on we go with what we have.

We were very light in midfield as it was. Evatt claims we're not but its clear MJ is completely overrun and overworked. Teams are going to fly into us now so we need a midfield that competes. Sheehan will have to actually be a midfield player now with the requisite workrate and physical presence. He needs to get stuck in and actually do a job. Help MJ out because IE seems to prefer using Lee as the runner. Lets see if Sheehan can do the job of a central midfield player and not just be a luxury effectively meaning we're playing with 10 men.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 2:37 pmHard to say as you're getting into hypotheticals...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 2:34 pmLets paint a reasonable scenario - MJ booked, Lee has an injury recurrence at the same time. But the scenario I painted is not hard to forsee. Evatt can't make excuses about midfield numbers or injuries - because that would be ridiculous. If we have a couple out he's told us we're well stocked - so I'm interested to see who he plays there.

MJ is going to be out suspended before January. Lee has already been injured. The chances of the two happening at the same time are absolutely in the realm of possibility - and my point was you expect in the midfield area to lose a player or two at times. If we're well stocked - I'd be interested to know who the other options are.DJBlu wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 2:39 pmReasonable?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 2:34 pmLets paint a reasonable scenario - MJ booked, Lee has an injury recurrence at the same time. All I know about Gillingham is that its about 30 miles east of Westerham/Seven Oaks heading towards the Isle of Sheppey, but not as the crow flies. (From reading Jane Austen).
Given that, I'll just say COME ON YOU WHITES....

Deffo other systems available. We could go 424 and just ignore the midfield completely

We don't have a 4 worth picking though!officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 2:57 pmDeffo other systems available. We could go 424 and just ignore the midfield completely![]()
He might try and stick with the 4231 but with the RB issue and now a severely weakened midfield I'm not convinced that will work.
I'm not 3 at the back fan but our centre halves are struggling in a 4 and it means we can put Isgrove at wing back.

The club had some sense of stability for the first time in a long while. And now.....we're back to the days of turmoil and uncertainty.
Its not good and really poor that it's happened right before what is an absolutely monumental match in the course of the season. Saturday is massive and this probably hasn't helped. We need to see 11 players go out and be prepared to put absolutely everything in for every single second tomorrow. We know Sarce always did that. So the 11 tomorrow have the responsibility to show they will bleed for the club.
At the end of the day doesn't matter how much nice passes you play football is still ultimately about winning an individual and team battle for the right to go and play and attack. And we need to see 11 with that desire, workrate and intensity tomorrow. Every game in this league is hard and its imperative tomorrow that nobody is carried - everyone does their job and pulls their weight. I won't judge tomorrow by what players do on the ball, but by how they work off it. How the shape is off the ball. How we win it back, how we dominate the physical midfield battle. Because those are the areas we fail in. Tomorrow those are what the team will be judged on. 0-0 with a suitable fight would be a good result IMO.
