Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Birmingham 'do an Ipswich' and spend seven figures on a left-back. Their one's called Alex Cochrane.
Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Hmm, Brum sign another player, this time Marc Leonard for a rumoured £500k. I think it’s safe to say that if things click for them they’re winning the league.

Aye, some of their mouthier fans are already putting up the bunting on HMS PTL. They definitely have the resources and some very good players for the level - but they do have a very inexperienced manager and a huge weight of expectation. They play Wrexham, Rotherham, Posh and Huddersfield in last Sept/early Oct, and if they new guy hasn't got them firing by then you can imagine a very troubling atmosphere. Conversely, if he has and they win all four, it's a coronation.

Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Haven’t they spent in excess of £5million quid? Seems fairly unprecedented at this level - I know I got annoyed over everyone fawning over ‘fairytale’ Ipswich a couple of years ago when they spent a couple of million but Birmingham appear to have signed a new team for big bucks.
Re: Division Three, 2024/25
And the rest! They're over £10m I think. Two individual players over £3m each.

FFS
You can’t not win the league at that level - if they are not 10 unbeaten from the off they will blow some more on a manager.

We be saying "we'll never get this lot up to speed with how we play, much before Christmas, because we've injured most of them and they need to learn how to play football."
Nowt to worry about.
I notice most of the outlay has been abroad and Scotland for their 4 largest signings...

They presumably would have been signing those same players had they remained in the Championship, in that case

Going to say right now, at the risk of excommunication, that unless we change our style of play we ain't winning anything. "Hungry like the wolf" is the only way forward, and unless we fight and play the game at mach pace for 90 minutes, we won't break so much as a cup and saucer. You have been warned.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 5:30 pmWell we keep getting told out squad is Champo ready (with maybe a couple of additions). We'll shit 'em.![]()

With regards to Brum, don’t they have to abide by some kind of PSR type rules?

Wigan look like they’re going to sell Charlie Hughes for £5m. Shows the value of having a proper academy.

Also gives you an out regarding the squad cap, against which we are currently chaffing.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2024 10:00 amThey certainly put you in a Position Of Maximum Opportunity![]()

Georgie Gent is leaving Blackburn to sign for Barnsley.
Should be a very good signing for Barnsley.

Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Wrexham have officially announced Dan Scarr. First choice centre half in a promotion campaign and then last season in the Championship (only started 25 games due to injury, though).
Makes a lot of sense for all parties. Big pay day for a 29-year-old, money for Plymouth and gets a player with injuries off their books as they look to make themselves a proper Champ side.
If Parky can keep him fit you'd imagine he will be an excellent signing for them.

Opta says we will win the league, Brum 2nd. Interestingly, Lincoln 5th, Rotherham 7th... and Wrexham 20th. Hmm.
