There's got to be very little chance that they rip up the entire play book having built up an 'identity' throughout all levels of the club.

So Steve Evans has to be nothing but journalist chatter.

I hope.

As our resident mole indicated, the mini staff are being given the interim jobs.

If the board know anything about the club's history, they'll be desperate to avoid a Megson type appointment that immediately upsets the fan base and sets us against the board. Steve Evans would be that appointment. As would Rooney or Giggs. I just can't see they'd be that stupid.

Given how much weight Ian put on due to the stress of managing us I'd be interested to see what happened to Steve Evans.

I feel like he'd collapse in on himself and form some kind of footballing black hole.

So not unlike his time thus far at Rotherham.
I don't want Evans, because I don't think he'd know what to do without our lot and a transfer window. But if they won their game in hand, they'd be one point behind where we're at, with a better GD!.

So he's doing worse than Evatt, who we just sacked?

Glad we agree.

And having had to build the side in a single summer.

I don’t think there is a chance in hell we’d appoint him but he’s a better manager than Evatt imho.

Juuuuuuuuulllllllllllles. The top bloke. Good luck to them all. One of the few players to score for us and have it celebrated by the opposition fans.

He had one window and a mess to sort. Which is somewhat more of an excuse than being in your fifth year and had multiple rebuilds of ‘the best team in the league’.

I was reliably informed that good managers with big budgets find ways to win enough games.

Can't recall who said it. Tip of my tongue.

Never said Evans was good. Just better than Evatt.

Well, this season most of the lads on the list would have done a better job than Ian did.

Glad we've moved on now. I'm hoping the interim lot will pick up some points and the new guy will have enough time to get a couple in that he'll need.

Interesting to hear Iles say the club should have sacked him pre Christmas to give themselves a better chance. Sounds like he feels a sacking has been inevitable a while and they’ve delayed too long. Not often he’s critical.

And herein lies the problem. All that clamour for Evatt to go (correctly), and already we're panicking at the prospect of a couple of potential replacements..........

I hope we get someone progressive and proven in, but can we accept that we can't have it all ways. We can't be desperate for Evatt to leave, and then immediately start complaining about the potential replacement (even before he's been identified!!).

Us with a vacancy always had the potential for said vacancy to be filled by an Evans, a Rooney et al. All those that wanted Evatt out so vehemently now have to fully support the replacement, regardless of who it is

Funny he is saying this now. I always thought he was an Evatt apologist. I guess he knew the power Evatt had and needed continued access to BWFC inside news.

I don't know if you heard last night's Last Word podcast... he's a bit more honest on that and last night he (Iles) sounded very down indeed (and hinting strongly at the possibility of change).

Obviously he has to maintain a relationship with the manager but he's been getting increasingly honest in his words, both printed and audio.
