Cheers, Brommers, good research.
It's good to know he'll give kids a chance, because that's important for a club IMO. They have to see a pathway or they're just chattel. Evatt often gave out sub slots but most of them never made the pitch, or got a token couple of minutes like competition winners.
From what I know, Plymouth's youth system is in better nick than ours: less local competition but also much more setlled than our Ken-crushed conveyor belt. On the flip side, I'm guessing they have far fewer local options to loan players out to, which seems (wisely) to be our model: send 'em out into the real world.
Interesting to watch the rise and fall of numbers involved as the Pilgrims progressed: 4, 4, 5, 7, 6, 3, 0, 0. Completely fair enough to phase the grown-ups back in but note that we're in the QFs now and facing one of the hardest draws we could have been given. Had Schuey taken over in autumn we might have seen a slew of kids get minutes, but tonight it might just be one or two, more through necessity than ethos. It's not easy to imagine us being so far clear we can coast through the last few minutes.
By the way, Jack Endacott, who was given five starts and a sub appearance in that run, was released last summer; he now plays in tier 7 for Plymouth Parkway. He's 20. It's a tough career.

Yes, always very sobering to see where these youngsters end up. The harsh reality is that the vast majority of them aren’t good enough to play professionally. If your academy produces one or two first team players/ones to sell to teams higher up the pyramid every few years you’re doing well.

I hope he doesn't go with a weakened side. It didn't do us any favours last season when Jerome played ahead of Charles.
I do think this competition is for blooding youngsters so more than happy to have them on the bench at this stage of the season, but to use this moment against a play off rival would seem a strange decision given the possible outcome we could achieve should we really go for it.

I'm with you on this mate, whilst not giving a fig about the competition particularly. New boss has come in trying to make some adjustments, the more matches we can test them in, the better, for me, without overly risking any rush-backs. Yes people can get injured playing football, but I think it'd serve us better to get the team a bit more consistent.Mar wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 2:19 pmI hope he doesn't go with a weakened side. At college tonight so going to miss this on the Couch. Will have to try and dip in every chance I get.

Strong lineup, nice mix on the bench.
Not our strongest side, but I wouldn't call it weakened from the side that played midweek.
Last time out it finished 0-0 at home against this lot. We've played each other 14 times, winning 9, drawing 2 and losing 3. Those results don't really count for much, given the last time either scored a goal was 36 years ago in 1989.
Strong chance that these are one of the play off rivals. Lets have at em.

Feels like a reasonable side in the circumstances with match winners on the bench if Schuey decides to risk them.

Have they put out a strong side?

Not sure if its a strong lineup, but its not much rotated from the previous match they played in the cup a week ago.
Why the hell didn't Wrexham play over the weekend? Cup tied opponents presumably?

2 changes from their 4-1 away win at Port Vale last week.
Dunno if it's strong as Port Vale had a weaker side out.

According to FlashScore, all 11 Wrexham players have been "on the bench" / "not in the squad" for games in recent weeks.

Just looked and they have 2 defenders who played in their league win over Crawley the rest weren't involved.
I wouldn't say it's their strongest side.

Lolos pushed their mon away half as strong as their defender blocked him off before. Guess who got the free kick?

Hope the ref hasn't got it in for Lolos.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 7:42 pmLolos pushed their mon away half as strong as their defender blocked him off before. Guess who got the free kick?
edit:
Given a free kick to them for Toal getting the ball.
Think he might not like physicality.

It’s bounced off Vic a few times already in good positions. We’ve had some presentable chances and looking comfortable with the box midfield who are finding lots of space.
Ref has given some nothing fouls. Bad news if that continues.
