"You can take the man out of Bolton but you can't take Bolton out of the man". Yeah, hard to do if there's no Bolton in there to start with.

Feck yeah!!! Tango. :oyea: :oyea: :oyea: We employ too many players who are 'just playing football for their living'. Not enough are either good enough, or proud enough to wear the shirt of Bolton Wanderers. Garty, are you listening?

Out of todays squad I'd be gutted to lose a half dozen (medo, eagles, bogdan (yes I know!) Davies (hardworking, willing impact sub)) before seasons end. Obviously the newbies can't leave so I've left them out but the rest of the bunch just feel a bit distant.

Above all his faults Coyles downfall was stubbornness and a failure to learn from his mistakes. I hope Dougie can negotiate the same landmine with regards to the back four.

Yep - thought Medo was poor with possession for first half hour, improved a bit after that just a pity we were 2 down by then. Spearing wasn't much better.
Agreed. And thought Chungy was our best player

I haven't had the chance to read all the posts about today's game but ffs it was just about as bad a performance I can remember(well in a very long time ). I have been as behind the team and DF as is possible but I am beginning to wonder now if there is a way out with DF. I am seeing the same issues week in and week out in all the games we've played. Holes at the back, giving possession away through the middle and feck all of a clue when we get into the last 1/3. I'm not sure just a few new players will sort this out. We were lacking and 2nd rate in just about every position and area on the pitch today. I don't have any answers but its going to take a major effort to get it right. 2 weeks off and then a tough game at home to Leeds, a game we should be looking at for 3 points.

To get a spanking here is a massive eye opener...hopefully for freedman as well as us.

Captain Zat. It's a shocking decision - he has to change it. The 'man' has been at the heart of everything wrong with Bolton Wanderers under 3 manager. He's a disaster. But as a captain, to inspire? Do me a favour. Best thing that could happen for our season is him getting injured...Freedman gets off dropping a massive bollock, Zat can sneak off into the sunset.

And 3 years for Wheater! Haha!

2 week break, get the lads a friendly or two (and f#cking win one) behind closed doors, and get them working hard. Absolute let downs.

They could all f*ck off for me, only eagles I would be bothered about. Bang a few on the transfer list.

Hope it doesn't come to binning team doughs - be an expensive do.

Well that was totally w@nk, getting destroyed by a team who we have had the hoodoo over for the last couple of years.

Apparently we had 61% of the possession??? Didn't seem like it.

One positive from todays match was some of the attacking play after we conceded the first two. I thought we were far better them, than at any other time this season which is promising. If we played like that all the time, we'd score far more than we do but you obviously shouldn't need to go 2-0 down before we play like that. As soon as the handcuffs were off the players though, I thought we showed promise and that's something I hope we can build on. We know our defence isn't strong at the moment, so rather than continuing with this idiotic notion of 'controlling the game without the ball', the first priority for Freedman should be working on ball retention in order to be more threatening going forward but also to reduce the amount of chances the other team can create by reducing their momentum.

Our defence is so poorly drilled though. People will criticise individual performances but as bad as our players can be, and were today, the major issue is that they look like they don't know what they're doing. We have a very confused defence and players are constantly out of position. Our back four has probably played a combined total of 1000 games yet they look clueless so either they've all been unfortunate enough to develop sudden memory loss in the past few months or they're being instructed to do the wrong things. The players are getting lots of stick but whilst they are responsible for the mistakes they make, I'm more concerned about the coaching than their lack of ability.

Just think what could happen when we actually do control the game with 61 % of the possession.

Yes. I've been very critical of CYL recently and stand by every word, but today he had a go and looked more like his old self. Credit where it's due. But it's one game.
Agree also that Medo was poor. Bit of a drifter at times, and we are clearly not seeing him at his best.
You have to wonder what's going on at the training ground really.
