Granted re Mavies. He'll go come January if he stays fit in any case IMO. Centre midfield, both in holding and attacking areas will be crucial. It's going to be interesting to see whether he maintains 3 at the back, in which case, Feeny needs competition and we need other options out wide.

As the transfer window does not formally open until 1st July, signings cannot be ratified until then. I thought Madine was pretty much signed and sealed so we may just be waiting until July to announce anything.

Do think we need a proper CM too though. Danns is OK but not good enough to be first choice. I like Vela but he's still young and learning. Mavies is great but won't play 20 games. Trotter isn't good enough. Looks like Pratters is going. Big engine is a must. Whilst I footballer as well would be nice, Josh or Mavies can do the passing to our own players bit.
Don't forget the forgotten man, Spearing!

I do agree that we need a robust figure in there. Austin has been released by Leeds and he fits the bill for me. What we need is a ball winner who can actually win the ball and then find a mate.

I'd be delighted with Austin. Him and ditching this back 3 bollocks would be two massive steps in the right direction.

True, but it's not a transfer and quite a few clubs have now announced contract terminations (both end of and mutual agreement). Can live in hope though :)
Beckford to Preston has been announced (not a transfer) and I was hoping we might have one or two in-comers announced too before July. But, perhaps NL is still on his jollies and deals won't be confirmed/announced until later in the month. I guess some deals are on hold until it's clear whether some of those out of contract are staying or going.

Danns finished the season at 50% compared to how he started it.. I thought the suspension might have given him a bit of an injection, but no..

It was like age just caught up with him overnight.

Too slow and cumbersome, which is a shame because he's been one of our better ones the last couple of seasons.

HUGE season for Vela, but he needs an enforcer alongside him to let him get about..

What's Muamba doing?

I had forgotten! I think he and Lennon burnt their bridges with one another after Norwich (the week before actually when he refused a penalty), but if he gets his head right and they make up and be friends, he could have a big part too

"whether the club had the requisite finances in place to hold on to some of their top stars"

Steady on! Glad he's staying though. Hopefully he'll be used as the engine we need in the middle instead of the embarrassing sight of seeing him try to play off a striker and make things happen.

From above link ...

"With Pratley, Wanderers won 10 and drew seven of 24 games he started; without him they won five and drew five of 28."

Priority re-signing, methinks.

Glad he's signing on again, not arsed what we're paying him as it's not my money, but sticks in the throat that he's fobbed Ipswich & QPR off ONLY on the basis that they've offered him less than we have.

We should've matched whatever he'd been offered elswhere and told him he fvckin owes the club one, the cvnt

Correlation =/= causation.

We were better with him, but he is far from being that decisive!

Sorry to digress but what sort of a fecking name is Shaleum? Earlier this week I heard of a bloke named Brioche. I was hoping that his surname might be Bunn, but sadly it isn't.

As you were. ;)

Good to have Pratley stay on board, if indeed there are no last minute bids and he does. He attracted masses of criticism in his first 2 seasons but was never given a run of games until NL came in. He now looks like the player we thought we had bought. Long may that continue.

First 3.

And the criticism will return if he's crap again next year. But here's hoping he isn't.

Pick the bones out of that. Obviously there's plenty there that would be way out of our financial capability (Hangeland, Mulumbu etc etc) but there's a few eyebrow raising ones.
