Re: Lennon out!
Should be. But in football that rarely equates to "usually is". ISTR we were almost freakish, when we first went up under Allardyce/Gartside, for our insistence on two-track contracts - with lower wages and extra clauses if we went down.LeverEnd wrote:Could it be a standard feature of managerial contracts though? Performance-related bonuses for promotion are common so why not a relegation clause?

Re: Lennon out!
Just for clarity ... Megson had a 12 month rolling contract. So when he was binned he was due 12 month's money. However we had the right to pay it as a lump sum or, as we did, pay him over 12 months.
There was a clause which said this would cease if he found a new managerial job. He pissed & moaned that this prevented him taking new work (it didn't). He kept banging on about being given the whole sum so he could seek new work ... we weren't preventing him, that was his greed.
He was a tosser.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

Coyle was a pillock in the final analysis.
Freedman was a dubious chancer.
Lennon is an obnoxious nice person.
