Crowley? Seems to permanently be on short contracts. Maybe it's a joke on his height.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 5:15 pmAgain, could it be a combination of player is not happy with not being the main man anymore and/or the chance of earning more money in a higher standard of league?
or d'you mean Dapo?

Discovered Crowley while looking for a reliable list of recent L1 transfer fees. Harder than I expected, although TBF I am working too

Is the standard of the German league 2 that much greater then what he is currently playing in ? Interest to note they quite often sell out home fixtures with a capacity of just under 30k , which would suggest a very partisan crowd.
People haven't got a good word for you, but i have T**T.
Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
It’s quite likely they’re offering him considerably more money.knobpolisher wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 5:53 pmIs the standard of the German league 2 that much greater then what he is currently playing in ? If €600k is what we’re asking that does seem low. It’s definitely not enough to get a guaranteed game-changer from elsewhere.

What's the Boss man got to say? I see he's hinting at an "exciting signing shortly, but has a Dapo move affected this. ?

Can’t help but feel the Dapo fee sounds low - hope is this is part of the plan - but who are we getting to replace him for that? Genuinely remember his debut against Morecambe and thinking he looked an exciting player - the first we had signed that made me think that for a looooong time.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
That's the clear and relevant question.
On his day he's our best player. So if you sell him you'd usually want that to translate into two top players coming in in exchange for that loss, so you have a good chance to improve.
Given that Charles cost us 300k on an expiring contract, what would replacing the lad look like?
I think I'm right in saying we're close to 2pts per game with him starting (1.9 or thereabouts, from memory) and at about 1.6pts overall, so that's another thing to look at.
May you live in interesting times.

A player is ultimately only worth what someone is prepared to pay. The fact that we would seemingly consider a sale at fee such as the one reported suggests either we think that’s the best we can get and his value will only decline or that we want to realise the asset now in particular for some reason.

Probably a combination. He'll be frustrated he's not the star man at the minute and we'll be willing to sell for the same reason. He's not going to get more valuable with 12 months left on his deal if he's still not pulling up trees.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 8:09 pmA player is ultimately only worth what someone is prepared to pay. Well yes and I guess it’s linked to the player we want to bring in. Maybe needing the cash for that. As frankly for that money it would probably be worth having him second half of the season if we weren’t able to replace with someone Evatt preferred. Unless there has been a fall out of some sort.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 8:15 pmProbably a combination. Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I suppose it depends what we mean by "fall out" as well. A player can just honestly say, "I'd like to leave" and that be that.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 8:35 pmWell yes and I guess it’s linked to the player we want to bring in. I do find it interesting that Dapo was left out and Evatt used the same phrasing about both Dapo and John (that custodian bollocks he came out with) - so it's entirely possible Dapo's had his head turned and Evatt hasn't liked the reaction.
12 months ago Dapo leaving would have been a crisis, now it's a Wednesday.
I'd rather have him in the squad than not as things stand, but I can easily imagine us signing players who'd improve us over what he's currently offering.
If his head has been properly turned then the chances of his contribution ramping back up to 11 is about the same as detecting a fart in a hurricane.
Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I've seen Ayoub Assal linked as a potential replacement.

Not sure he'd fit the "exciting" tag, coming from one league down, but happy to trust the judgment of others more ITK!

I think Evatt's been an admirer of Assal for quite a while, or he at least used to be.

Assal and Rudoni, yes. Obviously the latter is now out of reach at Huddersfield, but Assal is still there and looks a prospect.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 9:50 pmI think Evatt's been an admirer of Assal for quite a while, or he at least used to be.
The issue would be he's probably worth considerably more than Dapo in this market. Same length of deal but admirers with deeper pockets and generally regarded as being capable of developing to a higher level.
If he could be had for reasonable money, though...yes, please.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Fun fact on Assal, though. All his goals and assists this season, bar one, have come whilst playing as a winger. 9 games as a second forward or 10 yielding a solitary assist against the mighty Doncaster.
So if we really wanted to replace Dapo (natural winger forced to play a role that doesn't really suit him by a tyrannical manager) maybe he's our guy.
