Worthwhile trying for Samaras as he's not getting a game at WBA, especially as Lennon has worked with him before

Blackpool aren't renewing Eagles' short term deal.
Can't understand why we wouldn't go for him?

In December, there was a rumour about us being interested in Eagles.enrdentw wrote:Blackpool aren't renewing Eagles' short term deal.

Could be something in it.

Eagles is a better player than what's appearing right now. I'd be happy to see him back. He sees nets and shoots and, when he's hungry is a good player. We could do worse.

Frustrating at times but a class act. Would love to see him in this team.TANGODANCER wrote:Eagles is a better player than what's appearing right now. I'd be happy to see him back. He sees nets and shoots and, when he's hungry is a good player. We could do worse.

If Lennon can get performances akin to Pratley out of Eagles then he would be a very handy addition.

I don't get all this clamouring to re-sign Eagles, I'm not sure his game or attitude would change under Lennon, he was never a "Heart & soul" player, fair enough he had a few good games but in the years he was with us it was only a handful. Plus how poor he was for Blackpool against us and the fact that they have released him and No-one else has or did prior come in for him is surely a sign we should move on and look at other players?

True but that's not been looking to great recently.wigan white wrote:I don't get all this clamouring to re-sign Eagles, I'm not sure his game or attitude would change under Lennon, he was never a "Heart & soul" player, fair enough he had a few good games but in the years he was with us it was only a handful. Dont worry, Lennon has a plan. Pele, Garrincha, Zico and Cafu are in the Whites hotel discussing terms with PG after witnessing the footballing rebirth of Heskey and EidurTKIZ! wrote:True but that's not been looking to great recently.wigan white wrote:I don't get all this clamouring to re-sign Eagles, I'm not sure his game or attitude would change under Lennon, he was never a "Heart & soul" player, fair enough he had a few good games but in the years he was with us it was only a handful. I must confess Blackpool releasing him would give me pause.wigan white wrote:I don't get all this clamouring to re-sign Eagles, I'm not sure his game or attitude would change under Lennon, he was never a "Heart & soul" player, fair enough he had a few good games but in the years he was with us it was only a handful. Apparently, their manager said that extending his contract would have been like putting a tiara on a shire horse.Montreal Wanderer wrote:I must confess Blackpool releasing him would give me pause.wigan white wrote:I don't get all this clamouring to re-sign Eagles, I'm not sure his game or attitude would change under Lennon, he was never a "Heart & soul" player, fair enough he had a few good games but in the years he was with us it was only a handful. Eagles is a wide player, Eagles is on a free, Eagles is capable of being very good
I wouldn't trust Blackpool's judgement on anything at the moment, comedy club
Not sure he's the answer but he's worth looking at - a week at Euxton with Lenny, perhaps?

...it doesn't look like Eagles has anything better to do! That lucrative contract he seemed to be after never materialised...

If it's true we're after Lloyd Dyer, who's also a wide player, then it might cut out the Eagles option (if indeed there is one being considered). I'd still prefer Eagles, I think, who's 29 to Dyer's 32, but either would probably help us.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Eagles is a wide player, Eagles is on a free, Eagles is capable of being very good

Lennon said Dyer is a no-go because he doesn't want to move his family up north.
