Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I wonder why there has been no comment from the manager on the Forino signing. With almost every previous signing under Evatt there has been a comment from him in the associated press release about the signing / player - but nothing at all with this one.

Maybe he’s conscious the next time “Ian Evatt commented…” is in the press the article is going to be jumped on negatively. Or he’s on holiday?!

Has Evatt made any comment since Wembley, apart from post match?

No. Not a thing. I’ve heard he’s too busy filing all those receipts.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 12:23 pmHas Evatt made Amy comment since Wembley, apart from post match?

I think I'm okay with the idea of Ian talking less.

You're as reliable as Farage when it comes to mentioning certain things

A couple of early rumours doing the rounds around Josh Coburn on loan - nothing concrete.

Bodvarrson has his say on the final in the Bolton news. Agree with him.
But I was saying we saw this all season and the season before. It’s a trait we’ve built in. And won’t be changed unless the manager recruits the right stuff, right characters in significant numbers.
Young lads without experience won’t fix us. We need been there and done it types throughout the squad.
“It was weird, when you are in the stand you can see it from your perspective, and you see the whole thing. After about two minutes of the game, I had the feeling the game was not going to be good,” he said.
“It felt, to be perfectly honest, that it was too much on the day for the lads, pressure-wise. You could see that Oxford had just managed to get into the play-offs and for them it was a different sort of game, a big day out, nothing to lose. But I think you could see after only a couple of minutes that the whole world was on the lads’ shoulders, with the body language and stuff, and it was really tough to watch that.

I'd be very happy with that if it's true.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 2:29 pmA couple of early rumours doing the rounds around Josh Coburn on loan - nothing concrete.

Would be an ideal pick-up.jmjhb wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 7:53 pmI'd be very happy with that if it's true.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 2:29 pmA couple of early rumours doing the rounds around Josh Coburn on loan - nothing concrete.
Another one we'd probably not get near if not for injuries.
If Boro want to loan him out, great.
The fact Collins and Coburn known each other's games inside out would be massive. 32 G/A between them in half a season at the start of 22/23 was one the best attacks I've seen at this level.

Can Coburn do the Evatt press effectively?

I don't think that there is anything in these Coburn rumours.

Can't say I've looked at it, but it would seem odd for him to end up back in League One.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 1:38 pmI don't think that there is anything in these Coburn rumours.
He can press, though, yes.
