Putting it all into perspective signing NRC on a free when he cost 8M odd a few years back could be the best deal anywhere in the Premier League this summer. Proper experienced player who was captain at Villa for a while and is still just 27. By all accounts a talker and leader which is something we missed in recent times.

Aye and I thought Sean Davis was a good signing too. Sometimes these things don't work out. Petrov hasn't so far but did look infinitely sharper against Bury. Ok it's Bury but hopefully we will see more from him.

NRC is still in the peak of his career so even if it doesn't work out it's decent business to get him on a free.

According to my Citeh mates, Sturridge left them when they "only" offered him i.r.o. £60k/w. Now normally I'd put this down to their natural bitterness, but they've had f*cking bucketloads of cash for ages, and can have who they want. So they reckon, thats them not me, that he's on somewhere iro £70k/w at Chelsea.

I have absolutely no way of verifying these figures, but thats what they said.

According to the Grauniad, he rejected £45k per week offered in 2009 by City, and asked for £75k.

If you suppose that Chelsea upped the £45k offered by City, then he must be on over 45...

I have no idea, it just sounds like bollocks that even Chelsea would chuck a £15mil deal at a 19 year old. It seems more likely (to me at least) that City were 'leaking details' of his contract to try and make him look like a greedy nice person leaving for the money, rather than leaving for a bigger club.
