When Tony Pulis is a likely candidate I'd keep anyone in post.

You'd accept the Devil if he brought some balls and pride back to the club!
Freedman just don't 'cut it', him and lennie boy are typical of a few managers, good when things run well just the same as Coyle, but when it gets tough they are clueless and don't see the whole picture.
Anyone who thinks Freedman is going to do a 'Palace' job at Bolton is frankly living in cuckoo land and I say to them, the coffee tastes as good as it smells!
To keep, as his lordship alluded too in a previous post, moving goal posts to suit our predicament is a joke.
The main man behind our demise is the 'common factor' in all this PHIL FECKIN' GARTSIDE yet no shit seems to stick to his Teflon arse because he gave us BSA and Eddie D, WOW and Sammy Lee, Megson, Coyle and now Freedman/Lawrence and he's skint us.
There really is not much more to say but no way would I let him pick yet another badly needed manager.

Just been thinking, all this looking in players eyes bollox, could they have been wearing contact lense's?
Re: Freedman out!
This is my problem with it too. LK is right it's unacceptable but I don't want us to become a hire and fire every season club because I really don't think it will help.BWFC_Insane wrote:Are you not worried that a new manager comes in, things pick up for a while, then slowly revert back? And we end up chasing our tails again.Lord Kangana wrote:I'm not sure why we keep revising our ambitions downwards to accommodate the ability of the manager. We sacked the previous guy (quite rightly) because he was unable to get the best from this group of players. The overwhelming majority of the squad is the same other than a few additions made by the present manager, and we've gone backwards. I'm not entirely sure how we've suddenly become a mid-table side unable to compete, other than as a psychological trick to convince ourselves that Dougie is indeed good enough.
Let's be clear, the only team we've managed to beat so far is Shrewsbury. That is not acceptable of defendable. .
Is there not some sort of a pattern emerging here?
Feck it I haven't got a clue what the answer is anymore.
Downgraded ambitions are the order of the day but not just to accommodate the manager's shitness, also that of most of the players, the new financial restrictions and the fact that we've got a CEO who has spent too long in his position.
Hoboh has a point about PG. If Freedman fails (when?) then he should resign, no question. CEOs rarely stay that long is the business world and he's now looking at a catalogue of failures. He should be remembered for his part in a very successful period though.

Re: Freedman out!
I'm not sure what firing Gartside achieves right now.
We have to face facts that barring a miracle, we aren't going to achieve consistent premiership football (or better) without significant investment. Seems as though Eddie has had enough of putting money in.
But without someone putting in a lot of wonga we aren't going to get back close to a level, that would make most fans of the club happy.
We've been overtaken by the likes of Southampton and Cardiff now. They are spending big and will be mid table (at best) premiership sides this season. It has been said before that football is cyclical and we are now in the downwards part of a cycle. We had what 11 years or so on the upwards part so I shudder to think what is in store.......

12 months ago our manager was a cancer for having us in a better position than we are now. Are you seriously trying to suggest that in the intervening 12 months Armageddon has suddenly descended on the club and it is therefore impossible for us to be anywhere but bottom of The Championship without a win and out of The League Cup to lower division opposition?
Things may be bad, but I'm sorry, however bad they are, that is an inexcusable level of return.

Re: Freedman out!
I've been on the fence regarding Gartside over the past few years, but the more and more I look into it I'm starting to believe he's doing a piss poor job.
Yes, we had some amazing times under his stewardship, but so did Leeds under Risdale.
Maybe I am being harsh and am looking for a scapegoat, but the Sammy Lee appointment, taking too long to sack Coyle and the ever increasing debt are the major factors which I would say have contributed to our demise. All of which would fall on Gartside's head.

Clearly not. But I suspect the same conversation has taken place amongst fans from a dozen or so relegated clubs over the last decade. "We are better than this".Lord Kangana wrote:Point of order here.BWFC_Insane wrote:I'm not sure what firing Gartside achieves right now.

I don't think there is any doubt that totting up the players we have on paper leaves us scratching our heads as to why we're bottom. We can change the manager again and hope for the best, but like I say, what if we do get a short term improvement but then regress back as we have done this time?
What then? And the general direction of clubs that continually change managers doesn't seem great unless they have money.
But even then the majority of our fan base have an expectation of top flight football. At least. And relegation and seemingly Eddie's reluctance or inability to fund even an emergency loan player now does not bode well.

Re: Freedman out!
If we're finally willing to address the Gartside issue, may I throw in the Mark Curtis/Graeme Sounness/Gary Megson dodgy-as-f*ck-combo, followed by "those in football..." into the mix. That's the moment he lost my unquestioning loyalty.
And BWFCi, 12 months ago it was clearly all the managers fault, and changing the manager and coaching staff was the answer. So why wait now?

I'm not sure you can directly compare managerial situations personally.Lord Kangana wrote:If we're finally willing to address the Gartside issue, may I throw in the Mark Curtis/Graeme Sounness/Gary Megson dodgy-as-f*ck-combo, followed by "those in football..." into the mix. Different things going on, different problems, different attitudes and a different background to the situation.
For example, we sacked Megson when he was bumbling along at 1ppg (a total that would have kept us up). When Coyle made a far worse start in our final premiership campaign he was kept on.
Frankly I'm scratching my head as much as anyone and wondering what the hell is going on.
But I still can't shake the feeling that this is what has happened to many relegated sides, (especially ones who had enjoyed a fairly long stay in the top flight) and that whatever we do, it is going to take something special to shake the malaise that appears to have set in to the club.
Re: Freedman out!
so... with hindsight - maybe we should have not sacked Coyle - is that what you're saying - cos it's the normal situation a relegated club finds itself in regardless of management?BWFC_Insane wrote: Frankly I'm scratching my head as much as anyone and wondering what the hell is going on.

Re: Freedman out!
So league position is now no longer the manager's responsibility then?
We're in serious danger here of accepting mediocrity as the norm. Freedman is on borrowed time for me unless he can pull and absolutely incredible set of results out of the bag. Its not like it hasn't happened before. But if we're giving up and giving in, frankly I have no issue with simply putting Jimmy Phillips and Sammy Lee in charge, throwing loads of kids in, putting the overwhelming majority of the first team up for sale, or even subsidising their loans out, and getting the pain over with now. All that involves sacking Dougie btw. We can't be any worse than we are, so lets have a team with local links, pride and with the interests of the club at heart in place for the bumpy ride.
