I'm thinking back to Dougie's sabbatical after he retired from playing, where he went studying coaching around Europe. I seem to recall him being really impressed with his time at Milan and sadly I think it's been too great an influence on him. This idea of us soaking up lots of pressure then nicking one on the counter attack. It only works with world class players

Nor does it matter how good or bad our previous managers were. Another irrelevant sideshow.
Nor, to a certain extent, is the key issue now how much he spent last summer, before the cash ran out.
On another thread, there's a suggestion that he and Gartside are plotting to take us down, which is also wrongheaded bollocks.
What matters is whether he's able to stop the rot. I no longer think he is.

He IS the rot.
His negativity, his "playing without the ball", his plotting to stop Bury's threat, his 6 defensive outfield players, his dour football. His unwashed hair.
Yes, we're in dire straits but he's not the answer.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Freedman out!
I think the difference when we try to attack is noticeable, so if we could get an attack minded manager, I think it'd go a long way to ending some of the problems we've got. It wouldn't make our squad brilliant but the past two years does indicate that attacking football suits the squad we've got, though we're never going to have that whilst Freedman is in charge. He sets his teams up like he wants to be like Mourinho, with the ideal result being a 1-0, but that's fine if you've, one, got the players to defend and two, the coach can actually set up a defensive unit. Under Freedman, we play defensively yet can't defend and constantly make basic mistakes. We won't be a flawless team with an attacking manager but we'll get better results.bobo the clown wrote:He IS the rot.

A manager as good as Freedman but with an attacking mindset would be an improvement. I'm sure we can get an attacking manager who isn't inept tactically though.
Re: Freedman out!
I'm not sure whether to read anything into it, but for some reason the official site aren't carrying Dougie's post match comments, which is unusual.

Re: Freedman out!
Here's a bit from the Beeb. Not too much difference fro other weeks,
Bolton boss Dougie Freedman said: "The loss of the keeper was a factor. Adam [Bodgan] received a huge gash in the eye and concussion and we have to respect the doctor. He said he was out cold.
"But we need to take encouragement out of this. This was an even sort of match and at the minute we are coming out of it just the wrong side."
So the keeper stopped us scoring goals then.

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.
Re: Freedman out!
Even sort of match where we are coming out on the wrong side. I think thats three games in a row where that's been applicable without it being addressed.
Re: Freedman out!
is it true - as someone said today on here somewhere - that we have only had 8 shots on target in 4 league games?
