Lets be honest if that were at our place we'd react the same. That second thread is pretty hilarious, I have no idea why but I got a few giggles out of that thread.

Did people know it was a restricted view before the game? I wasn't aware at all and pretty disappointed with a massive stanchion in line with the opposition box. Especially paying £26 for the privilege.

I actually quite like the surrounding of Hillsbrough and impressed with the tram direct to the stadium. Would have been quite nice to sink a few in the park before heading to the game. Not sure it would be the same in the depths of Winter though!

Its not like you'll be at the swings swigging white lightning! Maybe not a few but a it seems quite a nice place to chill out before the game. Not sure if they'd allow it though.

Got to agree with all of this, Spearing is doing a job which is all that's needed, nothing fancy just wins the ball and plays a good pass. He does some excellent work covering the full backs as well.... which leads me nicely on to Alonso. I'm sorry, how has this guy got any fans? Unless people are completely blinded by goals and think he is decent because he scored, then I honestly don't know what people see in him. Defensively it was probably the worst performance I've seen since Gerald Cid. That Antonio bloke on their wing did him every time, leading to Alonso either causing a foul or just being left for dead on pace. I cannot wait for Stephen Warnock to get into the side, but with that goal Alonso scored, Coyle will probably keep him in the side for about 6 games now.

In agreement with most that Afobe doesn't really do anything other than run around and that Chris Eagles is ripping up this division.

Much better second half anyway. COYWM!

Well played yesterday boys - better team against a Wednesday side with a lot of new boys struggling to bed in. Reasonable turnout from Bolton.

Shame about the nobheads on the tram to and from the ground - "Justice for the 96" followed swiftly by "Who's that Dying on the Runway". Reprimand them - severely.

I was on that tram mate, obviously not one of the ones singing and trust me, they piss us off as much as the opposition's fans.

Absolute morons the lot of them. They don't turn up at the Reebok, probably because they're banned but always seem to attend at the relatively close away games.

I could never 'want us to lose' even if I understood the logic of those who said they would if it meant getting rid of him.

I'm hoping he's stumbled onto a winning formula by accident. The narrow four in midfield made us look a lot more solid against Watford (despite how shit we were second half I never though they looked like scoring, not anywhere near as much as teams normally do anyway. My worry is how we score goals given we've been very narrow and the width in this system is supposed to come from the full backs. If teams come to the Reebok for a nil-nil, matching us up in midfield, I worry when our creative input rests on Tyrone Mears, who is an 'attacking' full back who doesn't attack space, doesn't overlap, is indecisive, and can't cross; oh, and Alonso, who is gash.

We could of course take different approaches for different games, but I fear that would take a little more subtlety from a man whose approach seems to be, we won, lets stick with this randomly generated set of players until they lose, then go back to a flat 4-4-2.
Let me put your mind at rest. He hasn't stumbled upon a winning formula; you will see that over the course of the next few games.

Of course my later "suggestion" won't happen because it is too radical or unconventional (although is it when you look at who scored?). I called it mad myself - there's a clue in there somewhere. But, seriously, one mobile striker up front who can actually score would be far better than the Clueless choices.

N'gog may put a "shift" in but he either has a serious mental block which prevents him ever pulling the trigger in the right place or he is useless. Or both. KD is 35 and unable to take part in most of the rough and tumble of high intensity games for more than cameos. Unlike other venerable players who still seemed to get goals for other clubs regularly until their overdue retirements, e.g. Teddy Sheringham, Dean Windass, KD has never been prolific and he is now taking the place of a younger player who could be developed.

Bahaha yeah you know it, I told my flatmate about how awful he was and he replied with "but he scored". Coyle isn't alone in his thinking.

One of the worst defensive performances in the first 45 minutes that I can remember seeing. Though he did improve in the second, might have been because Antonio looked gassed.

I noticed there weren't similar chants in the ground. It did seem like a small number.

I guess that would include me!

I heard about someone falling off the tier the away fans were sat in into the one below. I hope they're okay, puts things into perspective that - could have been very nasty indeed.
I was sat just in front of him and saw him fall, it really frightened me, it could have been awful!

As it happens, he came back up, showed us his cuts (he'd already taken the straps off his broken hand!!) and said he was fine!

I bet he's more than a bit achey today! Hope he bought a lottery ticket last night!

Alonso put in some fecking atrocious performances last season, too. I thought this might be his level, but perhaps not. What happened to his courtcase, anyway?

Alonso reminded me of Steve McAnespie away at Wolves many years ago. Thank God their winger couldn't cross as he was ripped Alonso up every time. Ngog is a joker and Afobe looks like he has never played in a full sided game before.

Much better 2nd half but with 4 strikers on the books, 3 of which can't score and 1 who can't (not allowed to by Coyle) play, we will not do anything this season.

It is a close division and if we can keep in touch and get a striker in Jan, who knows.

Wolves away the next one for me and just got my train tickets for Brighton. £18 return, bargain

We've never had a good left back since Ricky Gardner. At least we have a couple of choices now. Remember almost a full season of Henrik Pedersen in that slot?
