Indeed. He's saying all the right things. We need discipline, but crucially he seems to come at it the right way without being confrontational for the sake of it. I was cautiously optimistic when it was announced, and didn't understand the negativity. I'm still cautiously optimistic. Of course it is results that matter, so we might as well get behind him and hope he can deliver them. Seems a bit mental to say 'well, we might fail, so fcuk him'.

I'll remain utterly ambivalent until given such cause as to feel something other! :?

At risk of it looking like we're holding hands in a circle here, cautious optimism is surely the way to go for a new manager appointment after the negative and positive extremes of the last two appointments!

I'm just glad we have a manager who hasn't put our poor form down to being 'unlucky' yet.

As it stands we're shite, and I think he realises that. However like the rest of us he also recognises the potential of the squad (as shown in glimpses under Jimmy's brief reign) and the fact it's a thousand papercuts costing us points, and goals, not one massive trauma.

Coyle talked sense when he started... just saying like.

I dont know if he did or we thought he was doing because we wanted him so badly and were blinkered.

I think now folk have a more cautious and pessimistic attitude to this appointment and yet many are still saying he is talking sense, or saying the right thngs. Doesnt mean we'll believe it straight away but at least it's a start.

He said the word super and magnificent a lot......Looking back with hindsight (and thats always easy) he never really said anything particularly meaningful even on joining.

I think thats the difference I'm noticing in that Freedman has already talked about where our defensive problems lie, being about transition from attack to defence and how we deal with that as a team.

That to me, is the sort of specific Coyle never really mentioned, and very noticably in the fans forum would steer clear of anything like that.

As said, its easy to say stuff, a million times harder to make it happen, but there just appears to be something behind the words. It may and probably will all end in tears, most managerial appointments do.

We can but hope the tears are ours as he leaves to replace Moyes at Everton.......

I didn't think I had. Perhaps you can point to where I have?

That was aimed at BWFci's gushing about a man who hasn't taken charge of a game yet. Give him 6 months and he'll be calling him a cancer or something.

In that case, I apologise. I thought your comment was aimed at the appointment.

No need. I've already been called discourteous and deliberately adversarial this morning. I wouldn't mind, but in relation to a legal matter, I would think its my prerogative!

Anyway, you know you're getting older when the manager of your club looks to be about 12 years old :?
