The feck* won't let me look at his tweets since he locked down his account. not the end of the world, but still irritating. I like baseless speculation.Bruce Rioja wrote:He may have done for all I know.BWFC_Insane wrote:Yeah but it's ok, cos I thought he just made it all up?Bruce Rioja wrote:Just seen a Nixon Tweet:
Spearing news not great. BWFC can recall Stuart. But that decision not taken yet - and won't be taken lightly.

Re: All off to Ashton Gate!
Coming late to this party - only just got back from a v gd long weekend in Bristol... I pretty much agree with thebish's assessment of the game and the players...
We were good for the first 20 minutes, poor most of the second half, and I'd give pretty much anything to have the equivalent - at this level - of Super John, Andy W, Nathan Blake - like, strikers that weren't afraid to try and score a goal...
The last we had that was 'ours' was Anelka, tho I'll cherish the Sturridge memories...
Spearing is irreplaceable... No one else can do the job with his enrgy and bite... Medo and a holden several steps forward from where he is now will not be disastrous... I hope...
We were lucky to have a linesman on our side... And to take three points...
Tuesday is massive...

Clearly a regular goalscorer would be nice.William the White wrote:Coming late to this party - only just got back from a v gd long weekend in Bristol... I pretty much agree with thebish's assessment of the game and the players...

Although as this article points out, neither Hull not Cardiff possess one, their top scorers have as many as ours and aren't even out and out strikers.

In fairness, no-one ever, ever, ever has claimed Zat Knight was a threat from corners and free kicks. Not our corners and free kicks anyway.SmokinFrazier wrote:Alonso just cocked up a simple pass. It's frustrating but it happens. Knight's actions are more worrying because he should have assessed the danger and done something about it, but instead, he just lumbered back and didn't pay any attention to their striker. Alonso is guilty of a mistake, Knight is guilty of useless defending.
Knight did something which really annoys me from defenders. A ball went under his feet, which he should have blocked, and went near their strikers arm, but instead of reacting like a defender should, Knight's first instinct was to appeal for a free kick because of a handball. It's nonsense. A referee is going to give a free kick if he sees it, not if a play sticks his hand up. Instead of trying to defend properly, the clueless, inept Knight raises his arm and showed no attempt to win the follow up. That's unforgivable and I'm just glad it didn't cost us a goal.
He really is a terrible player and I'm not sure what people see in him. Then again, those same people insist he poses a goal threat on corner and free kicks, despite all evidence proving the opposite.
I'm with you on him being fecking useless though.

You were sat just above where I was stood looking at those photos. If you saw a ginger bloke struggling with some steps that was me.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:And he won't get much if any credit for that from most. Plus sounds like he had a belting game. Commentators seemed to indicate he was our best on the day....
from where I was sat - he was a bloody calamitous disaster....

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: All off to Ashton Gate!
A colleague of mine who lives in Bristol, and is a big City fan, reckons that his local pub was smashed up by Bolton fans. I think he said it's called the "Hen & Chicken".
Did anyone hear any reports of trouble on Saturday??

From what I heard of the Hen & Chicken. There was about a dozen Bolton fans drinking in there and it was stormed by about 20 Bristol ladswonka wrote:A colleague of mine who lives in Bristol, and is a big City fan, reckons that his local pub was smashed up by Bolton fans. walked into the H & C about 10 minutes after it all happened. I am reliably informed that 20 'City' (of a younger vintage) marched in there about 1pm en masse and confronted about 8 Bolton in the corner by the entrance to the comedy club. The 8 Bolton then launched a counter offensive forcing the 20 or so 'City' out the door. Punches were thrown and a lot of glass. There were probably about 50 people in there who had nothing to do with football. My ex and my kids walked in there shortly afterwards. It seems to me to be totally embarrassing as far as we're concerned on all levels.
If anyone tries to tell you they did the Bolton, laugh in their faces. All they did was run away, leaving a load of women and children shaken in the process. The opposite of the tough men they think they are

Not quite the OK Corral!
From pub 'smashed up' and 'stormed by about 20 Bristol lads', to, 'As far as I’m aware no-one was injured and no damage was caused to the pub.
No mention of whether or not any lettuce got bruised.
