Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
I don't know if it was effort - but surely it's more than simply a lack of ability? it has to be more than that, doesn't it? the players we had out there today are not THAT bad - or is that REALLY the best that they can be managed/organised/coached into being? do you really think that?BWFC_Insane wrote:Read it and try again. He clearly sees the problem. But as he says 'we are where we are'. We aren't in a position to have a massive squad with cover everywhere.Peter Thompson wrote:Ok Bish I'll re phrase....he doesn't appear to think that there is any problem !
Simple answer is we need to fight and scrap each week for whatever points we can get. And they need our support.
There was no lack of effort today. Just a lack of ability in key areas.

Is it in his contract that he has to play?

Ah. I should've hosted that image but couldn't be arsed. I'm so embarrassed that I'm going to have to delete it now to save face.

Always good to get wider opinions Notts Blanc, so thanks for the post. Not much in there I can disagree with.Nottingham_Blancs wrote:I don't post very often on here, but as it's a 'home game' for me and I've gone home frustrated, disappointed, embarrassed then I feel upset enough to post.
I thought we were very poor today. We were intimidated by Forest's hustle and their partisan crowd and the players did not stand up and be counted.
I'll work my way through the team and pass my comments:
Bogdan - Had nowt to do other than pick the ball out of the net three times
Defence - Wheater is an embarrassment at centre half. Teams will just play on his lack of pace and slow turning circle. Knight gets slated on here, but I like the guy. He gave the ball away for the first goal, but there was still shed loads of defending to be done by the rest of the team once Forest got possession. Full backs got no support from our wingers
Midfield - Medo and Spearing were far too deep allowing Forest to play in Front of them. Lee, was awful, lost his confidence, never runs past a man. Medo should have been sent off (and so should Reid). I didn't see Pratley's offence for the red
Forwards - Davies no service, Beckford no service
Just an embarrassing day all round. We had no pace in the team and were far too pedestrian.
Wanderers fans in the 'Lower Bridgford' seemed OK and very tolerant of a poor Wanderers display.
Forest fans ... some Wanderers fans were guffawing at "Mull of Kintyre" ..."all mist rolling in from the Trent, my desire is always to be here at .... City Ground "...but it's far better than what we can muster and did make for a great home atmosphere at ko time and half time ko time.
Ahh well ...that's my opinion for what it worth....awful day...Wheater not fit for purpose...Lee not fit for purpose (today) .... Medo (a disaster waiting to happen) .... Spearing (I think we might be seeing him as a quick fix to a mediocre midfield).
Dougie knows exactly what's wrong with our team / squad, but is struggling to get rid of who he wants to get rid of and get in who he wants to get in.
Only saw the game on stream, but it didn't look too bad first half (after the first couple of minutes)....
Second half was indeed utter dogshit and we were completely stuffed.

its bang f*cking average. even for this league. it's a shame holden and basically chung yong never came back from their injuries. that's the kind of quality that could set you apart in this league. it's likely gone and there's little else on our books imo.

To me like last season it's the horrid phrase 'fine margins'.
Add in a Dawson like organiser at the back and the effect is huge. It's not just cutting out some dodgy defending its also letting the team step up 5/10 yards to compress the game. We are sitting deeper as the backine drags us backwards. Simon Charlton noted this against Reading second half.
Eagles with the extra creativity makes things happen and seems to take the pressure off elsewhere. LCY is not stepping up to the plate and neither is Knight. Not a good game for a youngster like Hall to be thrown into today
However, I'm not panicking. We have players still to come in when Moritz is fully fit and Eagles comes back.
We need to sort out what we can. Frankly this week all attention should be on finding a loan centre back from somewhere. Really would help.

Aye, a centre half is as everybody seems to know (and Dougie too) a top priorityBWFC_Insane wrote:

i hope it's about that - but also about doing some kind of training that helps the players we already have play like a football team... cos what they are doing at the moment - even if it's not table=tennis - doesn't seem to be doing the trick...BWFC_Insane wrote: We need to sort out what we can. Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
Yes. The only other time since relegation that we've lost by more than one goal, in any competition, was on our first game back at Burnley last August.adamworthy2002 wrote:Would I be right in thinking that's our biggest loss since relegation?
It's also only the second time in 23 games (all comps) we've failed to score.
Still feels like a proper kick in the nuts, though. Someone asked yesterday how our season was shaping, and I said a lot would hang on this result: win and it'd feel like four unbeaten, lose and it'd feel like two points from nine. I wasn't confident we'd win but I didn't expect a dismal return... although (without having seen the actual goals) that defence has worried me from the off.
