He probably means overall the squad is too big, but you can never have enough wingers or whatever position he likes to stockpilebobo the clown wrote:Yet previously he's said he doesn't want, or need, a big squad and was keen to thin out the numbers starting with loaning players out and later getting shut.thebish wrote:Dougie wrote:“I’ve looked at a number of positions in our squad and I don’t think there’s enough depth in some of them, particularly for competing in this division when there are a lot of games. If you get a few injuries all of a sudden you may be forced to play people a bit out of position.
“With the injuries to David Wheater and, more recently, Matt Mills it’s been a bit difficult. I’ll be trying to balance it up and I have made some calls to managers, but as we speak nothing has been lined up.”
He said there was no point as that just led to players sitting around with no game time.
Now we are too thin on the ground.

It's probably just a diplomatic way of saying we're laden with resource-sapping dross.

Would we want a defender who can't get in a team that concedes 15 in a week?Jez wrote:Any chance of us taking Warnock then if Aston Villa are gonna conceed 15 goals in a week?

I was surprised he felt the need to join us in the first place. Maybe swayed by Cpt. Chaos' 'we'll walk this league' attitude. Hope he comes here, but it would be a big step.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
If Warnock is the answer, I hope the question isn't what do BWFC need to build a decent defence?
He may have looked ok in our back four this term, but I'd have fancied Wandering Willy to have carried that one off!
Warnock!!? Heaven help us.

Well, he was the best full-back I recall seeing playing for us at the Reebok since Candella.Enoch wrote:If Warnock is the answer, I hope the question isn't what do BWFC need to build a decent defence?

I never said he wasn't, but the competition hasn't been much to write home about.bobo the clown wrote:Well, he was the best full-back I recall seeing playing for us at the Reebok since Candella.

The older we get, the further back we drift.Wandering Willy wrote:I'm a creater not a defender.

Anyway! Who ever said a defender can't be a creator?
Apparently passing a ball across the halfway line is being creative nowadays.

So would you sign Spearing permanently now he's had a fair few games under his belt? That's to everyone.

Yeah, I think 2 mil is a reasonable price. He can be a bit inconsistent but he definitely adds some much needed tempo to the middle.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Couple of mill..........yes.IggyTheDawgster wrote:So would you sign Spearing permanently now he's had a fair few games under his belt?
