Re: Freedman out!
Our season can still be saved with the right appointment. Hopefully that was Freedman's last game in charge and we can get someone competent to replace him in the next week or two.

Re: Freedman out!
Dearden and Iles on GMR interviewing Freeman came pretty close to telling him it ain't working and he's to blame. Credit the guy for facing them live i guess but he reverted to the "we were playing a very good team" bullshit. Ergo, again, he spends more time worrying about the opponents than planning how to beat them.
They asked him if he expected to be in charge for Fulham (of course he said he did) and if he'd spoken with the Chairman since the game ended, he said not. At least they're challenging him and I'd hope they have their ear to the ground.
He's obviously a worried man ... as he should be .... though he says he isn't.
GMR also said they've been trying to get an interview with Gartside "for the past few weeks" but he's gone to ground. I'm not his biggest critic but that's poor, and not typical of him. What the fck's going on ??

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I suspect after today Gartside won't be seen. Unless it's to announce a sacking...

I suspect he will remain of the view that he's a good manager but he may well believe this one's not worked out and the more he tries the worse it gets and so yes, I agree, he may well be relieved to be relieved .... of the responsibility.LeverEnd wrote:I think he'd be relieved to be sacked. Re: Freedman out!
Just got back from the game.
Freedman is a joke. You play a five man midfield to try and dominate possession and then spend 60 mins smashing the ball to Mason who is not that type of player.
No movement, no passion, no clue. If he's still here by Monday then we're doomed

I get all the stuff about who makes decisions etc & not wanting to be controversial but are BWFCfans not just reaping whats been sown for being too accepting ?
I'd say the majority of fans are generally supportive & optimistic. They hope a result or good performance will help turn the corner. If they attend a game they are supportive (or quiet if not). All very laudable
If this site and other forums are representative of bolton fans, the majority were happy to keep dougie into this season & continue to let him play his own version of listen to me / watch and learn. Again all very laudable, but based as far as I could see, on pure crossed fingered optimism
Whilst the DF retainers have pretty much disappeared of t'internet space as of late only popping up if we scrape a win against rotherham or have heroic defeat against chelsea. Even now I don't get the impression of near riot as I remember in the mcfarland and megson dismissals, it almost resignation to our fate. Pitchfork time I tell you - if he survives today he is pretty much invincible & we truly are fecked. This is death by a 1000 cuts & quickly unravelling all the hard work of the last 20 odd years.

The only thing I'd add, is there might have been more booing at half time/full time, had 50% of the crowd not already gone for a beer (halftime) or buggered off completely.

Is nothing short of irony! Surely it's his silly individual error to try and out play one of the best teams in the division that ended up costing us goals? No?
Apart from the shoddy piece of journalism that leaves the first sentence of the article unfinished, I hope this is a paraphrased account of the managers words.Manager says he and his side must not dwell on home defeat against Derby
Dougie Freedman says he and his side cannot afford to dwell on their home defeat against Derby County and must now look
Chris Martin’s goals either side of half time were the difference as an impressive Derby side left Macron Stadium with all three points.
And speaking after the final whistle, the manager admitted Wanderers’ approach to the game should have been different.
“I’ve got to take some responsibility for the way we decided to set the team up,” he said after the final whistle. “We tried to out-football Derby and that simply didn’t work.”
"That said, we can’t keep making silly individual errors that ultimately end up costing us goals.
“Derby are a very good side and they should be playing in the Premier League after their performances last season. There’s no doubt about it, they’ll be up there come the end of the season.
“They were the better team and deserved their win.
"We understand the frustration right now.
“We still have the fight in us, make no mistake about that. We’ll be right back at it on Monday morning ready to go again in preparation for our game at Fulham on Wednesday.
“The good thing is we’ve got games coming thick and fast. It’s an important period for the club, no doubting that, but it’s an opportunity to pick up a couple of wins and climb up the league table.”

Re: Freedman out!
First up, I want to dwell on the Derby result and performance. I don't need people telling me when I can and can't dwell.
Second, Derby were ok and reasonably tidy. I'm not convinced they'll go up, I wish he'd stop making out we'd just played Barcelona.

No Dougie. No, we don't. If you keep saying this it doesn't make it any more true. If the players all shout "yes boss !!" when you ask them it doesn't mean it's real. If you've got rid of anyone who argues with you don't be surprised when no-one disagrees with you .... to your face. If they all high five each other during training it doesn't alter the facts that we plain to see yesterday .... and have been for months.
The players don't believe in you, the fans don't believe in you and .... most disturbing of all ... I don't think YOU believe in you any longer.
Go. Go for the clubs sake. Go for the fans sake. Go for the players sake. Go for your own sake ... but go. .... Now.

Re: Freedman out!
To 'out football' a team would have to suggest that we play possession football. I can only think of one game this season where we have had the lion share of the ball. So that's an absolutely nonsense statement.
Time and time again he has persisted with Mason as a loan striker, it doesn't work if the midfield can't get the ball to support that player.
I'm being to really despair now for the future of the club. I think we could end up like Sheffield United or Portsmouth at this rate
I'm also with Worthy, I was at the game and to suggest that Derby are a Premier League team is balls

Suspect all of these would want more (in terms of contract and cash to spend) than we'll be offering.
