In my book I'll remember him like I remember Gary Megson
Think I like Megson more tbh!
For me, the respect went for him went when he put the normal ordinary working folk on edge just before Christmas!
I've been agreeing with you far too much to be healthy, so I'm glad to find something I think you're wrong on.bobo the clown wrote:^^ bloody hell.
I have wondered in the past whether some of the shite spoken about him here to a degree but on those other, less considered sites, plus the comments morons of some of the morons in the B(E)N on occasions, didn't make him think "well fck you lot, you ungrateful tossers".
ED absolutely gets credit for the unbelievable highs of the last ten years, but either he genuinely isn't putting any more in, in which case he should be criticised for giving Andrews, Knight, Spearing et al. contracts he wasn't prepared to honour, or (as I reckon) he's playing brinkmanship in which case he is IMO a bit of a cock for making the non-playing staff think they weren't getting paid in the run up to Xmas.
That might just be sentimental. But I don't think so.
BTW, that he may be a cock now doesn't mean he doesn't get credit for the highs.

Or play the first team in Lisbon?! Theres a million and one times we've been sold the lie that things were for the long term good of the club.Prufrock wrote: All that time saying we were building infrastructure and an academy and a lasting "project". If this month ends with us selling off the training ground and Clough then f*ck it, why didn't we just give Allardyce the cash he wanted, get in the Champions League and just crash and burn earlier.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

It seems our only hope with Clough is that Wolves come in with a bigger bid, but I can't see anyone else putting such an astonishing amount of money on the table. I expect Bristol will be offering to at least double, if not treble his current earnings and wrap it up with a nice big signing on fee. Hard for a 19 yr old to turn that down.

He's 20. 21 in March. Not quite the babe in arms...
Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
The point still stands. A 4 year deal will see him financially secure for life, even if, god forbid, his shoulder pops out permanently next week.

Yeah, wasn't arguing against your point, Bob. Just surprised that he's not as young as thought. Bring on Alex Samizadeh...

Nixon says there is no auction for Clough now that the club have effectively set the price. Bid accepted is 2M rising to 3 with add ons.
Says club need money now so we are desperate for him to go.

They might be but what does he gain from that? It's a crap move for the lad.BWFC_Insane wrote:Nixon says there is no auction for Clough now that the club have effectively set the price. Bid accepted is 2M rising to 3 with add ons.

And when the money just disappears into s black hole we will soon be back to square one. It doesn't make much of a dent in the £15 to get through the season. He's not going to save the club or any such bollocks and I hope he tells them to stick it up their stupid incompetent arses.

I just hope they don't guilt trip him into it. Nothing against BC, but I find it hard to see how it's an appealing move for the lad. I'd been expecting one of the Premiership lot to hoover him up for a couple of million and loan him out on the off chance he is the real deal, and save themselves a lot of money in the process.

It's a bit like Tony Caldwell all over again, except for some reason they're offering decent money.

£2-3m is pocket money for any Premiership outfit. He's we worth that "risk". Why should he say yes to the first lot to raise their skirts ?
Precisely a year that he "burst" onto the scenes. Remember Dougie was all for loaning him off without ever playing him at all.

Perhaps a Premiership side would loan him back to us for the rest of the season?bobo the clown wrote:£2-3m is pocket money for any Premiership outfit. He's we worth that "risk". Why should he say yes to the first lot to raise their skirts ?

Mind I suppose we couldn't afford that.

Unless we have a cunning and as yet unknown plan to get through this month financially, then we probably have little choice?bobo the clown wrote:£2-3m is pocket money for any Premiership outfit. He's we worth that "risk". Why should he say yes to the first lot to raise their skirts ?

My distinction being between US agreeing to sell him to whoever offers the required amount .v. who HE is willing to sign for.Worthy4England wrote:Unless we have a cunning and as yet unknown plan to get through this month financially, then we probably have little choice?bobo the clown wrote:£2-3m is pocket money for any Premiership outfit. On a positive note "I'd prefer to stay" ... followed by "... & if have to go I fancy a better option than Bristol City" ... with a more negative possibility being " if I hang on my value drops & I'll get a bigger signing-on fee".
I don't think the 3rd is his position, I'm pretty sure the others are.

What about "The working class, can kiss my ass...." I'm off.
I could imagine the meeting with him "Zach, we've had a huge offer for you".....tick-tock....
Thinks! Barca, any of the big 4 - Leicester, City, Arsenal, Spurs...yadda, yadda.....
"It's from Bristol City...."

Cynic. When Bristol City dominate all European football in four year's time you'll have egg on your face. Mark my words.Worthy4England wrote:What about "The working class, can kiss my ass...." I'm off.

£3m+ is not bad cash for an unproven player! As much as I,d love to keep him,if it could be the difference between us continuing to run then I,d cash in! We aren't gonna get anywhere near that for him in Division 3.Ideally we,d keep all the promising youngsters, but we aren't in an ideal position!
