I said he has been the player who created most chances per minute....not assists.TKIZ! wrote:No he didn't, that was Nani and Drogba. According to Abs we just have to offer somebody a few bob and they'll take him off our hands. Apart from that, nothing new.Randy Watson wrote:so whats the latest on the official gary cahill transfer thread?

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I am very surprised how Sunderland are able to get so much money for their players: First 24m for Bent and then 20m for Henderson. Now that freed them up to get two quality players in Larsson and Gardner. Then Aston Villa sold Young for around 15m. That makes me think Cahill will be worth less than that because Young is rated so much higher.

Seb Larsson is nowhere near good enough for Sunderland...or Bolton. Or most Premier League teams come to think of it.

they allways overpay for mediocre players too so i suppose its par for the course sadly we over pay for absulute shithouses alla elmander and lets be honest rarely make tranfer profit the big clubs know this and are constantly lowballing us or holding back hoping we will sell in a panic, still cahill is worth every bit of his buyout clause so they should pay if they want him.martin1877coywm wrote:I am very surprised how Sunderland are able to get so much money for their players: First 24m for Bent and then 20m for Henderson. Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
old twitchy chops has set up stall on the Reebok car park with a car-boot full of dodgy goods to swap for Cahill....
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is hoping to hijack North London rival Arsene Wenger’s bid for Bolton defender Gary Cahill. Wenger has dilly-dallied for some time over purchasing the centre-back and it seems now Redknapp will steal a march with a £17m offer.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle is resigned to losing Cahill. The former Villa defender rates himself as good enough to play for the big boys in the Premiership and has made his desire to try his hand at one of them public on several occasions.
A move to White Hart Lane would pose a real challenge for Cahill as Tottenham’s squad currently boasts arguably the strongest set of centre-backs in the league, with promising defenders Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Bassong fourth and fifth choice behind William Gallas, Michael Dawson and club captain Ledley King.
One idea being mooted is that Bassong could be offered to Bolton to fill the gap Cahill’s departure would leave. If so, this could knock around £5m off the transfer fee, and would leave Bolton less in the lurch were they not able to secure another replacement.
Other Tottenham players touted as possible makeweights in the deal are Robbie Keane, David Bentley and Danny Rose. Keane’s Tottenham career is clearly at an end and Redknapp would be more than willing to offload him, however, Bentley and Rose would most likely move on season long loan deals.
Redknapp has always had faith in English talent and the purchase of Cahill would add to the English spine of Dawson, King, Huddlestone, Lennon, Crouch and Defoe.
Along with Phil Jones, Jordan Henderson and Ashley Young, Cahill is one of the most sought after English youngsters in this transfer window, and with Manchester United and Liverpool having moved early to secure those deals, it seems Redknapp will not play the risky waiting game à-la-Wenger.

If they'll pay the money, I don't care if he goes to Accrington Stanley.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Young is, er, older. Like I explained before, when you buy someone younger who has proven Premier ability (Cahill, Henderson, Phil Jones) it's because you're hoping he will become world-class, a regular international; effectively you're paying a top-up tax for potential. Young is already a semi-regular international but he'll never be world class; he could improve on his game and be an annoyingly good signing for the rags, but he's not the next Ronaldo.martin1877coywm wrote:That makes me think Cahill will be worth less than that because Young is rated so much higher.
As for Spurs: Bentley's an interesting one considering our lack of right-wing depth and his previous Lancastrian spell, but I'll bet you a pound to a pint of piss that if we get (further) linked with him there'll be moans on here. "Broadway" Danny Rose is more Coyle's kinda player - young, potential, midfielder. Keane, no.
