I bet sam would sign up the lot of them and then everyone would moan about them suddenly becoming goodofficer_dibble wrote:Sooner we get rid the better! him and everyone elseIggyTheDawgster wrote:Could be a tricky one for money, Is his deal nearly up? He might go for free if we're not careful.

Genuinely more excited about getting rid of some of these no hopers than dougie scouring the lower leagues for "talent". Lest we forget Butterfield who cant make the side instead of Pratley. fingers crossed we get some bids for our players. They'll all be off for free anyway soon enough.

What are the chances for buying a couple of players from lower leagues, who turn our season around inside 5 months and get us promoted ?bedwetter2 wrote:I see little reason for your statement that it won't work. Good players in league 1 and 2 are often overlooked by larger clubs in favour of buying expensive ready made reputations. In the case of BWFC, the point is that there is little money available but we need specifically two types of players; hard man central defenders with attitude and non shot-shy goalscorers.Relentless09 wrote:Developing footballers is probably the best method of building a club but if the club management still see promotion this season it won't work by buying league 1/2 players.
DF will, no doubt, have scrutinised the attitude of some of the current first team players and concluded that what is missing is a hunger to succeed. He will get that from certain types of lower league players who are feeling their chances of playing at a higher level are running out.
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
that were one of the problems last year. too many out of contract not arsed "coyle's crazy , but i wont be here to deal with it in 6 months, thank christ" [ (©) nigel reocoker june 2012] . minus 13 (?) players later in a shit division with a shit squad.officer_dibble wrote:Genuinely more excited about getting rid of some of these no hopers than dougie scouring the lower leagues for "talent". maybe we need 'em on long contracts so theyre stuck here to get out of The Shitepionship.
and go gamble the parchute money on daz bent b/w ngog for a "our defence might concede 3 , but we'll score five"
then look at the next season in the premierleague properly and not like a computer game tournement with your family.

Chelsea having activated the release clause in Demba Ba's contract by offering 7 million. To think we paid 8.2 mil for Elmander!

True.. But Elmander wasn't asking for £90,000 a week for 4 years...
By my reckoning, that's an outlay of £25.72m.
Elmander was £14.44m.
Still absolutely ridiculous though, considering he left on a free!

I'd rather have Elmander than dodgy knee Ba......ChrisC wrote:Chelsea having activated the release clause in Demba Ba's contract by offering 7 million. To think we paid 8.2 mil for Elmander!
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Not for me.. Ba is one of the top strikers in the world when it comes to goals per game ratio.BWFC_Insane wrote:I'd rather have Elmander than dodgy knee Ba......ChrisC wrote:Chelsea having activated the release clause in Demba Ba's contract by offering 7 million. Elmander was good on the ball and the odd goal but Ba is in a different league IMO. Even if Ba only did half a season he would outscore Elmo twice over and probably more.
2005–2006 Rouen 26(22)
2006–2007 Mouscron 12(8)
2007–2011 1899 Hoffenheim 97(37)
2011 West Ham United 12(7)
2011– Newcastle United 54(29)
Thats 103 goals in 201 games.. slightly better than 1 every 2 games.
Not bad for Mr dodgy knee

Butterfield has now left the building and is on the way back to Norwich. Nixon reckons he is off to another championship club on loan in the next few days.
In other news Everton have made enquires about Mr Eagles according to Lion Of Vienna..
In other news Everton have made enquires about Mr Eagles according to Lion Of Vienna..
The man who many thought would be Bolton's hottest property in the transfer market has started living up to his reputation. According to a source, Everton have inquired about Chris Eagles, the man who is top of Bolton's leading scorer list.
Eagles has appeared in each and every one of Bolton's matches this season. In fact, he's started all but one match, the season-opening loss away to Burnley. Since then, Eagles has scored seven goals and assisted a further 12 Championship goals, meaning that he is responsible for 19 of Bolton's 39 goals for on the season, or just under half of the goals that Bolton Wanderers have scored on the season.
Eagles was off to a flying start, scoring six times in the season's first 12 matches. His goal-scoring has since cooled off considerably, as he has scored only once in the last 15 games with that goal coming in the 2-2 draw at Huddersfield Town.
That said, don't get it twisted as Chris Eagles is still very much Bolton's danger-man. He is consistently on the ball and pushing towards goal and has come close on a number of occasions. There would have been another goal to his name had the referee not called for a penalty at Peterborough and he came very close against Leeds United on New Years Day, just scraping the post. Despite only scoring one goal in that 15 game stretch, Eagles has assisted seven.
The thing that makes Eagles an appealing proposition for Everton is his versatility. He can play across the midfield and has done so on numerous occasions for Bolton, lining up on both wings as well as behind the forward. He is also able to change his on-field position on a whim and does so fluidly.
Everton have had injury troubles with Seamus Coleman and Kevin Mirallas lately and would welcome not only the competition but the cover as well. However, Everton also have the likes of Steven Pienaar, Steven Naismith, and Magaye Gueye all playing in wing positions.
There is no word on Eagles' potential sale price or whether Bolton would even be willing to move him.
For us, we hope that the Trotters do hold on to Chris Eagles. He's been Bolton's liveliest spark for the vast majority of this season. Whatever money Bolton would get for him would not be substantial and thus would not lead to major reinvestment.
Eagles' current contract runs until the summer of 2014.

I think we gotta sell someone. We might actually get a few quid for Eagles as opposed to most of the rest.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:Nixon's said theres nothing in the Eagles transfer...
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
For what we would get, there is no way we will get someone to replace the goals Eagles has scored and created (half of all goals this season).Armchair Wanderer wrote:I think we gotta sell someone. When he's good, Eagles is as good as owt in this division. The trouble is he's not good consistently.
And when he's not good you are carrying a useless lump who wastes good chances and openings and sulks when he is asked to tackle or chase anything.
