So, do you think Gartside has made a good pick or a bad 'un?Peter Thompson wrote:I'm ok with Freedman & Lennie Lawrence - Coyle should have brought someone experienced in like Lawrence to help him, rather have DF than Holloway.
I like everything that DF has said so far, and I'll give him a chance. We can't expect miracles from him this season taking over a squad of mainly pampered, soft arsed, overpaid players who have absolutely no confidence and are simply used to losing, and we won't go back up unless we somehow get into that 6th play off spot with a good run after Xmas with Holden back in the side.
Good luck DF & LL....you'll need it !!

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Neither TBH Worthy (only time will tell - but somewhere in between for now), it was a strange appointment and a hell of a gamble by Gartside IMO and not necessarily aimed at promotion this season and not just a quick fix. I wasn't sure why Gartside went for him, but like I said I've liked what I've heard since he came (quite refreshing and bright) and I like the thought of an experienced proven no2 in LL.Worthy4England wrote:So, do you think Gartside has made a good pick or a bad 'un?
I wonder who tipped Gartside off about his availability and more importantly his future potential, as I think he will be a good manager - hopefully with us.
Realistically I don't think promotion is on this season, as I don't think these players will respond to him (they are so used to losing and being pampered through the Coyle holiday camp approach), I actually doubt they would respond to anyone (even Mourinho), but I do think he'll make tough decisions, get shut of the deadwood and I think he'll get us promoted next season hopefully from the championship not div 1.
We need to be patient though (as he's come to a club on a rapid decline) and not expect anything immediate from DF & LL, which is difficult for us BWFC fans - especially me !

I know you didn't - you just blew smoke - that's why i am asking you...paddypower45 wrote:i said it would be tempting.. i didnt say id take it..thebish wrote:so - for essentially the same job - would you take it? if so- then you can stop the loyalty drivel....paddypower45 wrote:agreed james that would be very tempting fellaJames B wrote:managers are real people who have families etc. if you were offered a job with x3 pay you'd be pretty likely to take it.paddypower45 wrote:i know i dont agree with it at to be honest all which.. is why im still on this board![]()
managers should honour their contracts and be loyal to their supporters and chairmen in my opinon. but that said football has no loyalty anymore except for us... the fans, were the ones who are left puzzled and pissed off with players coming and going for a quick buck and managers dropping their pants at the sniff of more money and fame... look at the state footballs been in since all the money got ploughed in and the way fans get treated and pay high prices for 90 minutes of entertainment..(well if you can call palace entertaining that is)footballs a horrible beast and getting more and more so every season.. good luck to bolton this season ive nothing againgst you guys at all its just the way this sport is run thats pissed me off the past few weeks.. i really hope holloway stays with blackpool and be loyal to those fantastic fans up there.. but more then likely he wont be which brings me full circle again to the loyalty issue....

A good start then. Just 6 more points from the next three games to fulfill my high expectationsSmokinFrazier wrote:I wonder if we'll get the usual good run of form under the new manager? If we get 10 points in our next 4 games, I wouldn't be overly shocked and obviously delighted.

N'Gog scoring ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Questionable team selection but impressive use of tactics and substitutions.
N'Gog and Petrov changed the game but moving Eagles inside, once again came at the time the game changed.
Good start.

Something else at the start of the 2nd half impressed me. Instead of the players just wandering back on, one of the coaches (I couldn't tell who) put out markers and had the players doing a series of short shuttle runs. I dont know if this is a good warm up technique or not, but it was a change from the usual and shows Dougie is paying attention to every little detail.
