Strange one this if correct. All I can think is that IF he comes then he had to sign a new contract with his present club as his runs out at the end of the month, so that we then have to pay MVV Maastricht the prearranged transfer fee. Unless he comes on loan??

Then again could all be a load of rubbish.

If he HAS signed but still plans to move on then MV can demand a fee.

That reduces the amounts he can expect as wages/signing-on fee.

On a purely personal income basis that's crazy of him in these Bosman times.

IF it's all true of course.

Nixon says that the transfer fee would be the same amount as any training fee that we would have to pay, so it would make no difference to him.

I know I'm I getting this all wrong somewhere, but.. A player comes and uses our facilities and trains with our players and we pay a fee. Is that right?

No. The "training fee" is what you have pay the other club if you sign a player under a certain age on a Bosman. It's an attempt to compensate the clubs who "train" them up in the first place. Separately I think he was training with us for us to have a look at him.

Story in the BN that we are trying to get Chris Maguire from Sheffield wed.

It also states we have got Madine. No psg yet because contracts usually run until 1st July?

BN's been saying the same thing with Amos: officially-unofficially both are signed but the club won't announce it until 1st July. Iles has also written a story about how that date - next Wednesday - is when things will start happening, but I wouldn't expect a slew of announcements. It rarely happens that cleanly, even before we add in the worrying recent spate of collapsed transfers.

I've seen Maguire play a few times and I like him. I didn't know he was a striker, though ...

And we're not signing Alfred Finboggason either. Happy days.

If Norwich and Everton are interested (as stated), might be a bit hard to get him here.

Plymouth promised us "Title Winning" on page 1, even before Veloso was mentioned. On that basis, this thread has my fullest support.

It's a bit like waiting for Christmas, but I'm sure to get to title winning, it'll be well worth it.

So knock them negative waves off! Have a little faith

If Finbog goes to Norwich, surely it pushes the Hoopdogg closer to the arms of his old flame(-haired) Neil...

Oh, for your sake I hope you are right.

In fact, feck it. Can we lock this thread now and I propose the expulsion of Plymouth, from this forum, with immediate effect.

^^^ Yeah. So someone else can come in and claim credit for the avalanche of new players ... especially Veloso.

Whoa! Hold on a minute, there have been loads of signings on this thread. It was on here that I read about:

Preston signing Beckford
Liverpool signing Bogdan
Wigan signing Morgan
Fulham signing Lonergan

And I'm absolutely certain there will be further signings before too long. Some of them for us.
