Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
What might have escaped your attention Abs, is that we've just lost a 13m out of contracts striker, a top class loan one and now probably a central defender. Any money we get from Cahill will be spent wisely, not at the discression of anyone who tries to screw it out of us. Don't compare us with the Liverpool's or Arsenals whose success is bought by having a team of expensive high-rollers. That's common sense.
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?

Presumably it's a way of maybe getting a player on the cheap? Clubs keen to do a Cahill deal may reduce the value of a player they want rid of!CAPSLOCK wrote:I'll ask againBWFC_Insane wrote:Why wouldn't he? Who would the player be as part of the Cahill+player deal? Has to be a defender and I can't see any of Arsenal's younger defenders being much cop

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Was gonna say, surely the main reason is as a sweetner for the buying club. We'll take someone off your wagebill who could do a job for us, you get a player you want a little bit cheaper. I'm sure for Arsenal the fact that Gary Cahill would become their club record signing will rankle a bit. If they reduce that down to, for example, 14-15M and throw in someone who Coyle thinks he can get something out of, let's say Vela seeing as we've tried for him in the past, then it probably suits all parties better- rather than saying to all interested clubs- it's 17M or nothing.
Or to sum it all up...
Bolton Wanderers do not want to become like Barry, from Eastenders.
"They took the nothing option, in retrospect what we should have said to ITV was, we want 1 million or...say £500. Then at least we'd have ended up with something!"

Bartley is class mate....ask rangers fans. 20 year old 6'4 CB who has played in the Championship and Scottish league. He will be given a chance on pre season with us, but i can see him being loaned out. Cahill if he comes to us will be in direct competition with koscielny who is very talentedTKIZ! wrote:Who would the player be as part of the Cahill+player deal? Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I think you'll find Abs that Bartley was one of ours before Wenger lured him away with the promise of puppies and sweets

So to sum up, Arsenal steal player off us then one of theirs suggest we sell our first choice centre half to them for a knock down price for his return.
Now forgive me, but isn't this known as ransom in plain English?
Really, theres nowt Wenger won't do.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Tottenham are clever. They want to sign Cahill and put us out of business in one fell swoop.
One of the most absurd deals I've ever seen. Those four probably earn double than the rest of the entire squad put together.
Keane is shite. Jenas is no improvement on what we have in that area. Hutton and Bassong would probably be good signings- if they want to give us them two and pop another 5-8M onto the deal then fantastic.
Still think he'll go to Arsenal. Looks like they might lose Fabregas and Nasri within the next couple of weeks now, Wenger is going to need to splash some serious cash if he isn't to lose the backing of the fans. Hopefully we're the beneficaries of that.

Jenas is f*cking rubbish.
I'm happier with the suggestion that Arsenal fleece us than we help Spurs lower their wage bill by putting our club into liquidation.

I have to disagree LK .... he's no-where near that good.Lord Kangana wrote:Jenas is f*cking rubbish.

How the feck he's garnered 21 caps is stunning, & proof that who you pay for matters more than ability.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Its plainly obvious that the Spurs story is bollocks. As has been pointed out we couldn't afford those players wages anyways. I imagine that they have offered "our choice of those players" not all 4, as I imagine Spurs value the 4 well in excess of 17M!
Aside from that there are now too many people reporting the Cahill to Arsenal story for it to be complete nonsense. I suspect a move to Arsenal would suit Cahill quite well now that his first option Man City are seemingly losing interest, and it sorts a problem out for us. Can't see Arsenal having too much in the way of a swap but the cash will be fine too!
