SWP only has 1 year left on his contract would be stupid to loan him out then let him leave for free when they can get 4/5 million now and his £65,000 wages of the books.Lofthouse Lower wrote:We tried to loan him in January, all was sorted until Adam Johnson got injured and Phillips was needed as back-up. This time from all accounts it's a permanent deal.CrazyHorse wrote:Have they said if we're trying to buy Wright-Phillips or just loan him? It's not clear from what I've been reading.

With us only loaning Tuncay, with a view to a £3M buy-out at the end of the season it suggests that either we can't afford £3M at the moment or that we'd like to hang onto that £3M to spend on another player.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

5 players in, 3M spent, in credit on transfers this year, wage bill 100K down on last year.... I know he's Scottish but still.....
Still need a few more like, but as Nixon has said at least there is the money and space on the wage bill to do it. Whether Coyle's drive for value, will mean we miss out, time will tell. Hope not because we're still light up front and out wide, especially.

which are (allegedly) the two positions we are pushing hard on - with the window still fairly wide open...

He did NOT say that. Please tell me he didn't say that.Lofthouse Lower wrote:OWEN Coyle has confirmed he is in talks with Shaun Wright-Phillips but insists he is not prepared to break the bank to sign him, or any other player, in the transfer window.
The England winger has discussed terms with Wanderers but has also been asked to take a pay cut on his current salary, reported to be £60,000-a-week.
“Shaun earns far more than what our threshold is,” said the Whites boss. “So for that to come to fruition there would need to be some give and take somewhere along the line.
“It’s not just an isolated incident. There are other players like that.
“We are still pursuing SWP. But there will come a point when, if we can’t get it done, we’ve tried our best.”

Are you accusing Lofthouse Lower of shortening a player's name? Because we all know he's got a stick up his arse about that...Prufrock wrote:He did NOT say that. Another Nixon article in the Mirror.
Ngog move a no-go insist Liverpool
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has blocked Bolton's £4million move for reserve striker David Ngog - because he has not yet found his replacement.
Dalglish rejected an offer from Owen Coyle's club for the Frenchman, but the Anfield club will sell if they are able to get cover in before the window shuts at the end of the month.
Ngog was linked with Sunderland in a proposed swap deal for Jordan Henderson earlier this summer before the Kop bought the young midfielder outright.

They've got Kuyt, Suarez, Pacheco and Carroll as strikers and then if you add in the fact they normally play with 1 striker and then 3 attacking mid and two pushed back they don't need a replacement

good arguement, but you're omitting the fact that Dalgleish is a complete wanker !Tals-biggest-fan wrote:malcd1 wrote:Another Nixon article in the Mirror.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Kuyt and Suarez are part of his first choice '3' behind the one (Carroll) though. Not up to unintelligible Scots to do us any favours.
