It goes to show that rugby players, particularly pie eating ones, know nothing about footie. I mean predicting that Sunderland would beat Liverpool 5 nil is just comical

WANDERERS could head into the derby with Manchester United without a specialist right back after Gretar Steinsson was struck down by illness.

The Iceland international has failed to train this week after picking up a sickness bug and will be monitored over the next 24 hours to see if he stands any chance of playing at Old Trafford.

As Sam Ricketts is out for the season, it could mean that Paul Robinson is again asked to play on the opposite side of the defence, with either Marcos Alonso, or the fit-again Jlloyd Samuel drafted in on the left

JLloyd who?

From the press conference it doesn't sounds like JLS has a chance of getting onto the pitch.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Ahh, shine a frigging light...I don't much fancy going to Old Trafford with a LB at RB and a kid at LB...

Posted same in Match Previews/Reports, but is anybody up for writing a short essay on "The day we went to Stretford" ?. Needn't be War and Peace re-written, just an account of your day at the Theatre of Dreams.

Somehow, I doubt Steinsson, Robo or any other full back combo is messing too much with Cur Alex's head. He'll be more concerned with keeping our attacks out

I think I'd rather have Robinson at right back, with A.N. Other on the left instead of Steinsson - the lad has cost us too many times over the last 18 months.

That said, still fancy us to win, 2-1 with a last-minute Sturridge blinder in off Elmander's arse.

Well you know since before any big game Fergie's always lying about who's injured and so on I thought it'd be funny if it was the opposite only with Steiner but the irony being in the fact that as you so accurately mentioned Steiner being injured wouldn't worry old red nose making it.... gah nvm.

BBC Preview
TEAM NEWS
Manchester United could be without 11 injured players, although Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful Jonny Evans and Park Ji-sung could return.

Paul Scholes starts a two-match ban after picking up 10 yellow cards.

Bolton midfielder Mark Davies looks set to miss the short trip to Old Trafford after injuring his ankle during the FA Cup win over Birmingham.

Full back Gretar Steinsson is expected to be fit despite suffering from a bug in midweek.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Man Utd

Suspended: Scholes (two matches)

Doubtful: Evans (ankle), Owen (groin), Park (hamstring)

Injured: Anderson, Hargreaves & Lindegaard (all knee), Ferdinand (calf), Fletcher (illness), O'Shea & Rafael (both hamstring), Vidic (calf)

Bolton

Doubtful: M Davies (ankle), Steinsson (virus)

Injured: S Davis, Knight & J O'Brien (all knee), Gardner (thigh), Ricketts (Achilles), Samuel (calf/fitness)

MATCH PREVIEW
The Treble is still on, but Manchester United will be hoping to avoid an altogether less desirable hat-trick when Bolton come to town on Saturday.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men have booked their place in the last eight of the Champions League and the FA Cup semi-finals in the past week, but they return to league action looking to reassert their authority in the title race after successive defeats.

United's cause will not be helped by a number of key absentees, including the manager himself, who will watch the game from the stands following a five-match Football Association ban for comments made about referee Martin Atkinson.

Ferguson will not be short of company - a deepening injury crisis could deprive United of 10 outfield players, while Paul Scholes starts his own suspension after picking up his 10th booking of the season.

Bolton have won just one of their last 16 Premier League games against United, but they arrive in Manchester in excellent form, with six wins in their last eight matches and a place in the FA Cup semi-finals secured.
