He's a proper shortarse. Well, he isn't, but he ain't half as tall as I thought he was. MASSIVE chest though, makes Davo look 'rexy' (that, I'm told, is a word). Right nawty cockney accent too.

About £55K per week off the bill.
How far is that going to get us?

Under £3mil to pay for transfer fees, signing on fees, wages ect. We'd need to go back in time about 10 years to get decent players for that money.

Jussi Jaaskelainen- Wouldn't be held to ransom but he's worth a new deal. 1 or 2 years.
Gary Cahill- Hopefully sell him in January for 5M upwards.
Ricardo Gardner- Time to go. Give him that testimonial!
Zat Knight- Perhaps worth another year on reduced terms.
Sam Ricketts- Renew.
Paul Robinson- Let go. Personally think he's done better than anyone expected when we signed him but we need a new left back (or Alonso to make a vast improvement)
Gretar Steinsson- There's more chance of me playing for Bolton Wanderers next season.
Sean Davis- Who?
Martin Petrov- Get rid.
Robbie Blake- Get rid. His contract extension was almost as baffling as the hiring of that fat lad who sits on the bench and apparently coaches although I've only ever seen him pick up cones.
Kevin Davies- Give him a year.
Ivan Klasnic- Worth another year.
Tope Obadeyi- LOL.

Renew: Jussi, SKD (reduced terms), Klasnic, Knight (reduced terms), Ricketts (if fit), Petrov (reduced terms)

Release: Blake, Obadeyi, Davis, Robbo

Unsure: Bibi

Sell/flog: Cahill (going anyway), Steinsson

Realistically, we can't get rid of half the squad in one go, that'll have to be done over a number of seasons. 6-7 is about the maximum - we got rid of a similar amount this summer I believe.

Seems like quite a big turnover of players really, and considering most of those I've listed in the 'Renew' column are nearing the end of their careers, it'll be just the same in 18 months. It's certainly a big job.

I'm not sure resigning players on reduced terms is going to happen. How many times have we done that recently? The only one I can think of is Bibi and like it says on FIFA 12 he is a one club man and a team player. Psychologically if a player is going to take a cut in wages it's probably easier for them to justify it to themselves if they're playing at a different team / different league.

If we're releasing Robbo we should really have a replacement lined up, hopefully one who's better. On the reserve game I saw I think Riley played and there was no probs on our right but there seemed to be more probs on the left side of defence, from memory. I'm thinking Abidal must be quite old by now, maybe he wants a challenge, or Roberto Carlos. If Italy is going under maybe we can get Dani Alves, he could definitely play on the left at a push :-D

You've just lost all credibility on this thread now. You know full well that Football Manager 2012 is the definitive source for all things like this.

Wait 'till you get to the bit where AW suggests Roberto Carlos and, "if Italy goes under", Barcelona's Dani Alves. To use the old managerial quote, "I was gonna say you couldn't make it up, but obviously somebody has"... :D

Bibi played for a team in Jamaica didn't he? FIFA 12 is is the age rating I take it?

Oops, who's the one that won the CL with Inter then? We could get the one with the pilot's hat!

You're all jealous that I've progressed to the part where you get to see the players' special abilities

Keep him - even if he is only effective for 15-20 games per season its worth it - he is the only Premiership class striker we have and have ever had bar Anelka for 18 months, and Elmander for 6 months, not counting Sturridge as he wasn't ours. We would have gone down long ago without him, and we still havent got close to a decent back up. Ive always thought and still think that our stretch in the Prem will be under the most severe threat when we have to try and replace him.

Kevin Davies has been the face of Bolton for almost a decade. And he's still a decent player. It's interesting to see so many people here wanting to just "scrap" him.

I may be but a bleeding Canadian heart, but I'm finding this a tad bit strange.

Also, Jokers in White, great AV!

Nope, I'm a huge Pro Evo fan. Currently got Wanderers promoted to the Prem in Master League mode.

By the way the fat lad who sits on the bench is the kit man, he trains with team but then he doesn't have to pick up cones as he has to wash sweat undercrackers
Pfffft.

This is a most informative post, as well as very reassuring. I can now go back to playing Pro Evo without feeling that I'm alone in the world.
