I asked one. This is what he said:

West Brom is not striking fear into my soul. They seem kinda lightweight from MOTD, so fairly dangerous but with a soft underbelly.

Could go either way, would be happy with anything better than a loss.

That is SO grammatically incorrect.
Hi, me again. Capt. Fun. It isn't grammatically incorrect. Singular collective nouns can take plural verbs, normally where it is a group of people. It is called 'metonymic merging' of grammatical number. I shit you not. It is 'Stoke are a good team' because what is 'good' is the collective ability of a set of individuals. 'The players, together, as a team, are good', becomes 'Stoke are good'.
You just blew my mind. If you're correct, I have about 100 apologies to make to the people whom I've ridiculed over the years.

Are you saying that BOTH versions are correct? You can say STOKE IS and STOKE ARE? And both would be correct?

Stoke IS a sh*t hole

Stoke ARE sh*tholes

Stoke IS the pits

Stoke ARE a mid table team

English IS English

In fact, I think you'll find that he said "... Canadians and Americans IS wrong ..." .
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

Nicely done, yeah, thanks Tango.

With hindsight that should have been "the thought of playing West Brom", but this is an interesting discussion.

I'm from the school of thought that you should probably put a comma somewhere if it feels right. But I'm not with that thing of putting a comma with the last "and", i.e. "Our first three games were against QPR, Citeh, and Liverpool". It really doesn't need that last comma for me.

I'd like to know about how to use grammar in a better way, but only if it takes a short amount of time. Is there a helpful leaflet or something?

Did OC go with that lineup against Stoke purely because of the type of team they are? If so will he change the makeup of the team against a lighter, fluffier West Brom? I'm thinking that maybe he didn't play Petrov because he didn't think crosses into the box would work against Stoke, so may revert back to him for the next game.

That's called an Oxford comma - I, personally, use it all the time.
Maybe with lots of usage we could get part of the English language named after Bolton (t'Bolton T for instance).

Anyway won't be at the match Saturday, but I've put a fiver on for Bolton to win 2-1.

Not sure, but on some of the WBA forums the fans seem to be including him in their starting 11.

This happens to be my first visit to The Hawthorns despite how many times weve played there. Anywhere nearby considered an away friendly pub?

On another note, I wish Hawthorns was still open

I went there after the last match at Burnden, got arseholed, copped off with a reasonably good looking female and had a lovely kebab on the walk home. Awesome.

Yep, really does beg the question: is the reasonably good looking female the same person as the missus? :D
