I was proper gutted when McAteer and (eventually) Stubbs left. Stubbs did sign my shirt though at Super John's testimonial so I can't let myself get too annoyed by him somehow.

Jog my memory somebody please, the same Alan Stubbs who blatantly shoved two Bolton players out of the way to let Everton score from a free kick. Was that in a Cup match? The incident remains but the match slips my mind. The very mention of Everton brings back memories of Duncan Fergusson and utterly moronic fans. Not on my favourite club list.

Only 'the goal that never was' registers with me when it comes to Everton. The rest is insignificant in comparison.

Aye, one costly goal that was (wasn't).

Although the question was addressed to Stubbs, my recollection was also of McAteer stood next to him when they were asked about the possibility of big Clubs coming in for them - memory can be a funny thing, but I thought I recalled McAteer grinning from ear to ear at the prospect...

I'm a bit too young to remember this – what happened?

McAteer went to Liverpool to be a spice boy, Stubbs went to Celtic, then Everton.

When I think of those two I think of Alan Thompson. Good times!

I was in the room when Jason McAteer got arrested for murder.

Actually this was a role play he was invited to partake in back when he played for us and he attended where I was working at the time to make a film for the local yoof about the dangers of drugs and what it could lead to. He entered our refreshment room unannounced with the camera man who asked which of the four of us would like to arrest him on camera and before I could get over my momentary juvenile hero worship someone else jumped up and did it.

I think it was this game, TD.

Fergusson was just a thug in football boots. He was sent off for punching Bo Hansen.
